“I’m so sorry,” I say.
“It’s okay. It is what it is. Now about the two of you,” she points at Blue and me. “Crazy, don’t you think?”
I nod. That is an understatement.
“But you will never be happier; trust me.”
“There is a connection between the two of us that I have never felt before.”
She smiles.
“And he’s so protective.”
“You have no idea. When I first met Dash I was scared, worried for my life. I had a stalker, and at the time the police didn’t help me as there was no evidence of what was happening.” Alaska rubs at her upper arms, a clear sign that the thought still perturbs her.
“You must have been so frightened.” I cannot imagine being in a situation like that.
“That’s the thing, when I met Dash all my worries were diminished. Even though I had just met him I knew that he would not let anything happen to me. And now with the whole serial killer saga going on, he’s constantly contacting me when he’s out to make sure that I’m safe.”
It’s actually really nice to have met another woman that has a mate here. Even though we haven’t spoken about how she feels about being a Lupin’s mate or living in such a different environment from what she was clearly used to by what her little rant suggested; she also mentioned that she was happy. That is the most important part of a relationship, being happy—feeling that the person you are with loves you with all their heart, unconditionally.
When she closes the door behind her, I look around once again to take in the beautiful room. I saw the bar area on the way to Blue’s room, and the various doors which must be the other member’s bedrooms. They have a really big house, and from the looks of it, they all live here like a family.
Thinking of family makes me wonder where Lee Ann is?
Walking up to where Blue is laying quietly, I stroke my hand through his fur before turning and making my way into the bathroom that I spied when I first came in. I’m going to clean Blue’s wound and then take a nice long shower and wait for Blue to wake up.
BLUE 19
Waking up, the first thing I feel is a sharp pain in my side. Opening my eyes, I see Siena’s serene face sleeping on the pillow opposite me. With each minute that passes, the pain diminishes. What happened earlier comes rushing to my mind, filling me with anger at what Siena went through when she should have had a nice calm weekend.
Leaning forward, I kiss her forehead, smelling my soap on her skin. My woman showered while she waited for me to wake up. The image of her in the shower has me hard and ready within seconds, wound be damned. Looking down at my side, I grunt as I see the raw scar there. In a couple of days, it will be completely gone, but for now, I will have the scar to remember that I could have lost Siena.
“How are you feeling?” Siena’s sleepy voice has my eyes snapping up to hers.
“As good as new,” I say with a wink.
“Liar,” she murmurs as she sits up. Only now do I notice that she’s wearing one of my MC T-shirts. My eyes travel down her body to see that the T-shirt is riding up her thighs, and all she has on is tiny black panties that can easily be torn away.
“That T-shirt has never looked better.”
She looks up from my wound to meet my eyes and grins. “I guess you’re feeling better, if that’s what you’re thinking about.”
I shrug in amusement. “The bullet didn’t hit any major organs, therefore, a quick recovery.” I raise my arm, wincing at the sting, but it’s bearable. I stroke my fingers down her beautiful neck to my mark that is just visible from where the neckline is drooping slightly.
“It’s amazing how quickly you heal. I was so scared when I first saw you on the ground bleeding.” She places her hand on my jaw, her fingers rubbing my stubble gently as she looks at me lovingly. Being here with Siena in this moment, even with the pain that I’m feeling, fills me with a peacefulness that is unbeknown to me. I thought my music calmed my restlessness, but I had no idea that I could find this inner peace that I now feel here, sitting next to my mate.
A flash of her frightened face pops into my mind, just before I jumped in front of that bullet. “I’m sorry that those fuckers attacked us.”
“It’s not your fault, you guys were just defending yourselves.” Her kind heart surprises me, that’s something that has caught my attention from the minute I first met her, the way she cares for those around her.
“Are the others all okay?” I only saw Fang; I don’t remember seeing the others.
“Yes, you’re the only one that got hurt.”
Great, I will never hear the end of it now.I sigh as I lean back and close my eyes.
“Are you in pain?”
