Picking up two plates, I approach the grill and a grinning Goliath. “Have you guys been eating already?” There is no way the others would just stand around waiting for me to take the biggest steak on the grill if they hadn’t eaten yet.
“We might have nibbled on something while we waited,” Fang states with a shrug.
“Nibbled?” I hear Lee Ann whisper.
Those fuckers didn’t just nibble.
“Why the hell are you only adding chicken on there?” I mutter.
“Your woman doesn’t like beef,” Dixon reveals from where he’s standing next to Frost. By the shitty smile on his face, I can tell he’s enjoying that fact. As shifters, our favourite food is meat, the rarer the meat the better. We favour beef, chicken is something we will eat as a nibbler, not as a full meal.
Glancing over my shoulder, I look at Siena. “You don’t like beef?”
She shakes her head. “Is that a problem?” she asks.
“Do you like lamb, pork, or any other meat besides chicken?”
She frowns. “I prefer my vegetables and fish or chicken, but no, I don’t really eat any other meat.”
Now I’m the one frowning. “I don’t like vegetables or salad. I only eat meat.” I prove this by picking up a bite-sized piece that is still on the grill, barely done, and pop it into my mouth.
She smiles at my fervent statement. “I will make you a great fish stew and you will be converted.”
I choke over her words. The others guffaw, knowing that it would be a real punishment to make me eat fish.
“Looks like you’re going to be converted, Brother,” Fang says as I make my way over towards Siena to give her food.
“You are all invited too, of course. After all the money you spent on this feast today, it’s the least I can do.” Dixon was laughing at Fang’s joke, but at Siena’s invitation he starts choking.I really hope she… my thoughts are interrupted as I realize Siena was teasing us.
She throws back her head, laughing.
“You are mean,” Dixon says in a surprised tone, a grin splitting across his face. “Rather you than me, Brother.”
I’m grinning over my woman’s teasing, looks like she likes playing pranks.
“Well, this was fun, but I’m really tired,” Lee Ann says as she stands. I see Siena’s concerned look. There is more to this than meets the eye. I need to find out what is going on with Siena’s sister.
“Are you okay?” Siena whispers, but being lupin, our hearing is more tuned than humans. I hear every word.
Lee Ann leans down to kiss her sister’s cheek before straightening again.
“I think I am.” I don’t know what that is supposed to mean, but it looks like Siena likes that answer. Her sister takes her leave, which has the men start packing everything away quickly as we finish eating. They know that I need to consummate our bond, or I will lose my shit soon.
“When is your next show, Brother?” Goliath asks as they prepare to leave
“In two days,” I mutter as I place my plate in the sink. “And after that, I have a private show. Actually, you might know who it is.”
Goliath frowns.
“Do you remember Draco from the Elementals MC?”
“You’re shitting me!” Fang grunts as he approaches.
Draco, the leader of the Elementals MC, had a run in with King a few years ago. For a time, it didn’t go well. The Elementals are mean motherfuckers, but then King and Draco came to a compromise.
“No. Apparently, he wants to impress his Ol’ Lady.”
“Fuck, who would want a mean son of a bitch like him?” Fang asks with a raised brow.
