“Are you okay?” I glance down at Siena to see her looking up at me with a frown.
“Yes.” She must sense the difference in me since we walked into the house. Pulling her closer, I take her lips in what was supposed to be a sweet and tender kiss, but it turns hot and scorching.
“Maybe we should go outside,” I hear Frost saying to Siena’s sister, which forces Siena to break the kiss, her cheeks flushed, her eyes heavy with passion as she looks up at me.
“You are dangerous,” she whispers.
“You have no idea.” When she finds out what I really am, I wonder if she will accept it easily, or if she will fight our bond. As true mates, it doesn’t matter how much we fight it.
My phone chooses that moment to ring, grunting I pull it out to see Jim on the line. “Yeah?”
“Where the hell are you?” I scowl because of his tone. We have another show in two days here in Cape Town and then one in Durban in a weeks’ time. There was nothing booked for us to do between yesterday’s show and the upcoming one.
“Why, what’s up?” I’ll be damned if I tell him where I am.
“You can’t just go missing. I have a record label that wants to make a deal.” I squeeze my eyes shut to try to keep my patience, but then I feel my woman’s hand on my chest, which has the desired effect immediately. It’s amazing how her touch can affect me in such an intense way. Opening my eyes, I see her concerned look.
“You know what I think about that.” I have told Jim repeatedly that we’re only working with one record label, and that is the record label that gave me my first break. I know that we could be getting more money from another record label, but we’re happy with what we’re getting now, and they don’t try to change anything about us.
“I want you to listen to them, Blue. It’s a really good deal.”
“No.” I disconnect the call because I know that he will try to convince me to the contrary, and on this one I will not change my mind.
“Problems?” Siena asks, her head bent slightly back so that she can look at me.
“Just my fucking agent. He can’t take no for an answer.”
I see the way she scowls at my statement. If I didn’t know any better, I would say she doesn’t like Jim. I don’t blame her; he’s a hard pill to swallow.
“How long have you known him?”
She doesn’t like him, now that is interesting.
I don’t like him much either, but he’s good at what he does. He’s also a real ladies’ man. If he made a move on my woman, he’s dead.
“A few years, why?”
I sense her uncertainty, but then she shakes her head, a sad smile widening across her face. “Just asking. Shall we go eat?” She turns to make her way outside, but I grab her arm, turning her back to me. If Jim tried anything with Siena, I want to know about it, because I will break every fucking bone in his body.
“Did he try anything when you were there?” I see her eyes widening at my angry tone, but fuck, the thought of him trying anything with her has me ready to explode in anger.
“Me? Oh no, he didn’t,” she says, shaking her head vehemently.
I expel a breath I didn’t even know I was holding. What the fuck is this woman doing to me?I was ready to rip Jim’s throat out.
“Are we eating or what?” Fang calls from outside
“Come on, let’s go eat. I’m hungry.”
I grunt, placing my arm around her shoulders as I guide her outside to find Goliath behind the grill turning one delicious looking steak.
“I want that one.”
Goliath grins at my statement, lifting it up as he wiggles his brows in amusement. “Well, you better come and get it before some other hungry wolf gets it first.” I see the others grinning at Goliath’s joke, but they know that I haven’t yet told Siena about us being shifters.
“Take a seat. I will bring you something.”
I wait for her to take a seat next to Lee Ann, who is sitting on the far side from where the men are standing, which for me is a good thing. I want her as far away from the others as possible. I hear Siena asking her sister quietly how she’s holding up, which leads me to believe, once again, that there is something there that I still don’t know about.
