“No, but thank you Sabre for today,” I say as I turn to make my way inside.
“I’m sorry about your car, I should have paid better attention,” he says, which has me stopping to look at him again.
“Nonsense, you couldn’t possibly have known what would happen, or that someone was sick enough to do what they did.” He doesn’t answer, just nods. Turning again, I make my way nearly to the door when Hawk approaches.
“You are both stubborn,” without another word he is picking me up against his chest.
“Oh,” I murmur in surprise; I wasn’t expecting this. He walks into the bar and towards the table where Dakota and Onix are sitting at. When he has finally settled me in a chair, he steps back and rubs his hands with a cocky smile.
“Well, you ladies wanted pampering and pampering you shall get.” He says as he wiggles his brows which makes us all laugh. “Lunch is coming up, just make sure you stay put,” he orders as he turns to leave.
“Hawk,” he stops looking back at Onix. “Does pampering include kissing?” a grin spreads across his face as he turns back towards us.
“Okay, who is first?” he asks as he looks first at me, then Dakota.
“Don’t you dare,” Onix mutters with a mean grunt which has all of us laughing, as he leans down and takes her lips in a blistering kiss. When he stands up straight Onix is looking flustered. “Who needs lunch when I can get that?”
“Ssht,” Dakota mutters, “I’m hungry.”
“See, stop being selfish,” Hawk comments on his way to the back where the kitchen is.
“Yeah, yeah,” she mutters with a grin as she looks at us.
“You two seem happy,” I say, only to see Onix’s eyebrows lift in question.
“We are happy; did you suspect that we weren’t?” she asks.
“No, I’m just used to seeing couples that I have known before hide their unhappiness with false pretence.” The only couple I have ever known that were genuinely happy is my parents.
“Wait until you have been with Dash for a little while and you will see that it only gets better,” Dakota says with a wink. Goliath comes into the bar with a scowl on his face. He walks past us, not saying anything as he heads towards the kitchen.
“Goliath,” Dakota calls, which has him stopping and glancing back.
“Are you okay?” she asks.
“Yes,” he mutters, which is clearly a lie as it is evident that something has upset him. He continues on his way, leaving us to look at each other in curiosity.
“I wonder what happened?” I say as I look towards the door that leads into the bar from inside the club and see Sam.
“Sam, do you know what’s going on?” Onix asks as she approaches.
“I think they found something in the property, but I don’t know what,” she says.
“Take a seat, Sam,” Dakota says, which has Sam looking at me before nodding and taking a seat.
“I don’t think the two of you have actually spoken, have you?” at Dakota’s question I shake my head.
“Alaska, Sam here has been with the men long before any of us. She helps keep the place clean and you will realize that with men around the place always needs cleaning.” I smile at Sam, realizing that she’s a timid one.
“Here you go ladies,” Hawk says as he approaches with two plates, Goliath walking behind him with another one. “Sorry Sam didn’t know you were here I will go and make you some,” he says when he places the plates on the table before Dakota and Onix.
“Oh no, it’s okay I’ve already eaten with Joy,” Sam says with a smile at Hawk. Goliath places the plate before me and steps back.
“Thank you,” I say as I look at my plate, Hawk has made all of us a bacon and cheese toastie, which smells divine. “This smells so good,” I murmur as I lift it to my lips and take a bite, savouring the smoky taste of the bacon.
“Well, enjoy and I will be back soon,” Hawk says as he bends down and kisses Onix on the forehead.
“I wonder what they found in the property?” I say as I lift my toast and take another bite.
