Colt
Ten YearsLater
It’shard to believe how different the house feels with Nova running it. Of course, it’s been a decade since she moved in, but it still blows my mind when I really stop and think about it. My wife and I sit in the sunroom during cocktail hour while the boys play down by the creek in the backyard.
Nova cranes her neck. “Can you see them, babe?” She’s the most wonderful mother, albeit a little overprotective—who can blame her?
“Yeah, two reddish-brown heads crouched down, examining something.”
“Oh boy,” she swirls the ice in her glass. “I can’t take another pleading to bring a stray frog into the house.” She turns to me, bright blue eyes shining. “Where do they come up with this stuff?” I smile and take her hand in mine.
After a year of living together, Nova agreed to be my wife, not just because I bought her a new car immediately after hers broke down—though, I’m sure that helped. I’m kidding, of course I had to twist her arm to let me buy her one. She kept working, cleaning out more and more houses outside of the city while I decided to return to the office a few times a week instead of working from home. It turns out people were glad to have me back, even if some of them are Patti’s relatives.
Eventually, Nova’s business began booming outside of the city’s boundary. More and more upper-class estates began requesting her service, so much so that she had to hire a team to help, but it’s not in her nature to sit back while they do all of the heavy lifting. She still goes out to the homes often, just to make sure things are running smoothly. I’m so proud of her; my heart hurts.
“Hey,” I say, running my finger along her inner wrist. “Remember when this room was a bedroom?”
“Ye-ah,” she says in a sing-song voice.
“Remember what we did in here?”
She furrows her brow, bringing her fingertip to her chin. “No, what did we do in here?”
I cuddle closer to her on the sofa, causing her to giggle. The woman still drives me insane, and after two kids, I love the way her soft curves feel. I’m the luckiest man alive. “Should I remind you?”
Nova’s eyes widen. “Colt, the boys are right there.”
“They’re down by the creek, and you know they’ll be out there until we call them in for dinner.”
“In theory, yes. But you know how things go. This will be the one time they decide to bust up in here for one reason or another. It’s some sort of weird kid radar.”
I laugh and nuzzle my nose against her neck. “But you smell so fucking good.” I take her hand and show her how hard I am for her. A tiny groan escapes her mouth, and she wiggles her body to face me.
“Jesus, you know I can’t resist.” Briefly, her soft lips find mine. “But it has to be quick.”
“An appetizer.” I run my hand up her inner thigh, past the hem of her skirt. Her hips press forward as I cup her mound. “And later tonight,” I rub her over her panties. “We’ll move on to the main course.”
“You’re a naughty boy, Colt Brady.”
“Yep,” I unzip my pants, and Nova laughs as she sits on my lap, still facing the windows. “I love you so much,” I say as she lowers herself onto my length.
“I love you, too.”
We finish seconds before the boys come rushing in, claiming they both have to go to the bathroom. When I look at Nova, she shoots me a look that screams I told you so. I give her ass a little slap as we head into the dining room and sit down for dinner, anticipating having Nova tonight for dessert.
