“What?” I snap, dropping to my knees.
“No bed hair. No smudged makeup.” Ty tries to explain, but it only makes me frown harder.
“I don’t wear makeup. What is your problem right now?”
“Humans wake up looking different from when they go to sleep. They mess their hair up, their makeup gets smudged. Hell, some of them have drool marks or imprints from the creases in the bedding. At the very least their clothes are wrinkled. Hell, even our clothes get wrinkled if we sleep in them.” Ty seems to think his words are supposed to make sense right now, but he’s speaking gibberish.
“She doesn’t even have morning breath.” Kier pipes up, making everyone turn to stare at him. Ty and Seth both glare at him and frown. “What, it’s true, her breath is sweet, almost like honeysuckle and roses.”
“What the F?” I snarl as I climb off the bed and move as far away from Kier as possible, which puts me right next to Seth and the door.
“So I wake up like a normal person who doesn’t get morning breath, what of it?” I growl, moving subtly back towards the door.
“You’re not supposed to.” Kier growls.
“Excuse me?” I snap, my hand gripping the door knob so hard I’m sure my fingers would be turning white. I twist it and turn my back on the three of them, only to stop suddenly as I catch sight of the clock on the wall above the couch.
“Just F’ing great. You idiots made me late.” It’s ten past six and Ms Harker said if we were even so much as a minute late we’d be put on cleaning duty for the rest of the month. “If that crabby cow makes me clean toilets for the entire month, I’m going to make your lives a living hell.”
“Are you threatening a God right now?” Kier growls, getting right in my face.
“Not a threat. It’s a promise.” I growl right back, poking him in his far too hard chest and trying not to wince at the pain that shoots through my finger.
Kier grabs my hand, pulling me even closer. We’re literally toe to toe and chest to chest as we glare at each other.
“And… that’s enough.” Seth grabs my arm and pulls me away from Kier, who looks like he should have steam coming out of his ears right now. If he was a full God, it would probably happen for real.
Seth turns me around so I’m facing him instead of Douche-one. “I’ll walk you there and if they ask why you’re late, I’ll tell them that I commanded you to do something for me.”
“Will that stop them from punishing me?” I tilt my head back so I can see his face and end up with my hands pressed against his broad chest.
“Yes.” He breathes the word so softly that I’m not sure the others heard it.
Seth’s eyes are completely blown, barely any of his fiery amber colouring is showing at all. I can’t tear my gaze away. My stomach fills with butterflies. All I can hear is the pounding of my heart.
He tilts his head, lowering it slightly and my pulse spikes, my breathing turning embarrassingly heavy.
“Page Seventy-two.” Kier snaps, pulling me away from Seth and ruining the moment.
“What the F is your problem,Kier?” I take on mydon’t take shit from anyone stance. You know the one- with hands on hips and chin jutting out, lips pressed together in a thin line while narrowing my eyes. Yeah, you know what I’m talking about.
Apparently Kier doesn’t though. He cocks his head to the side and asks, “Do you need the bathroom or something? You look like you’re about to explode.”
“I think she was trying to look tough. It’s kind of cute if you think about it.” Ty adds to my humiliation.
To my utter shock, Seth joins in as well, “Yeah, I have to agree with Kier on this one, Ryx, the mean face and stance doesn’t really work for you, you’re too cute to pull it off.”
“Urgh F-You!”
“She even swears like a cute little innocent. Maybe Kier has the right idea with the fairy tales. Do you need us to hold your hand all gentlemanly like while we walk you to the arena?” Ty asks, his face going red from trying to hold in his laugh.
Unfortunately for him, his hand holding comment brings my attention right back to Seth. He gives me a soft smile and deliberately holds his hand out to me. With a wink, I slip mine into his and turn to the door.
“Shiitake mushrooms, I forgot my shoes.” I run back to the room and grab them, hopping around as I try to pull them on quickly.
