I end the call and hurry for the shower, refusing to answer his question.
What the hell has he done to work me into such a frenzy? I inhale a deep breath and swear I can smell his masculine scent throughout my bedroom. It’s intoxicating.
A sane person would wash the sheets.
I want to roll around in them and bathe in his fragrant aroma, making my insides pulse and shudder.
Fuck.
I should not care this much about a man I hardly know. A man who, by all accounts, I’m fake dating because I got caught with him over at the house while my daughter was away for the night. I feel like a teenager, hiding that I’m dating a boy from my parents.
Except I’m the adult, and Dmitri and I aren’t dating.
When did my life get so fucked up?
I turn the shower on and wait for the hot water to warm up. How will I face Dmitri for breakfast in under an hour when my body is tingling with the thought of straddling his hips and riding him cowgirl?
What the hell has gotten into me? Why has he made me so damn horny?
I strip out of my clothes, and there’s a prominent knock on the front door. I grab the white terry cloth robe hanging in my bathroom and slip it on. Padding out of my bedroom, I head for the front door and glance through the peephole.
I thought he was going to give me forty-five minutes. It’s been what—five minutes?
I command Kona to sit while I yank open the door.
“Dmitri?”
His cheeks are red, and there’s a primal look behind his darkened gaze.
His hands are on me, pulling me close and tight. His mouth descends hungrily on mine as though his life depended on it for survival.
“I haven’t even stepped foot into the shower,” I mutter between kisses.
“Good. It gives us plenty of time to get dirty first,” he growls into my ear, nipping the lobe as his fingers pull me tighter. He walks me backward toward my bedroom and smacks the door shut with his foot.
“Lock it,” I say. Allie is in the next room, and I don’t want her to see anything.
He reaches behind him and hits the lock, giving us our privacy. He shucks out of his shirt and steps out of his shoes, following after me.
“I have the shower running.” I head for the bathroom and untie the sashay around my waist, letting the soft white robe open, teasing him.
His eyes rake over my naked form, and he reaches for me, but I take a step backward toward the shower stall.
“Were you calling from the hallway?” I ask with a cheeky grin. I drag my fingers across his stomach and along the hem of his pants. I undo the zipper on his jeans, ridding him of his clothes.
Dmitri pulls me firmly against him. The robe falls to the floor at my feet. “I told you I wanted to have breakfast with you.” His lips crash against mine, hungrily dueling for control. “I could eat you and be sated.”
“Somehow, I doubt that.” A giggle slips past as his fingers graze my hip and his touch is light. I’m ticklish, and while I don’t think he’s discovered the secret intentionally, it’s obvious as I squirm out of his grasp.
“Ticklish,” he says, taking note as he studies me with a wry grin.
“Shower, now.” I slip out of his grasp and regain my composure. The shower is warm, and the bathroom is quite steamy. I step under the spray, and Dmitri follows me into the stall, standing behind me.
There isn’t much cleaning or shampooing going on.
His hands are in my hair, tugging my mouth to his, keeping me under his control. I’ve never been dominated by anyone before, let alone a man I hardly know anything about. Dmitri is a mystery that needs solving.
He may have remembered who he is, but he’s given me very little information. It’s like he’s hiding from me in plain sight.
