Kai collapses on top of me and rolls us to the side. I immediately curl up into a ball, feeling wrung out and intensely vulnerable for some reason. I’m still shaking when Kai wraps his arms around me and curls his body around mine.

He kisses a line from the back of my neck to the space between my shoulder blades. Those soft touches bring me back from the edge, into his arms, grounding me and reminding me I’m safe with him.

“Are you alright, Oakley? Was that too much??”

He turns me so I’m facing him and presses his lips to my forehead.

“I’m okay, Kai,” I promise. “It was intense in the best way possible. It’s hard to believe you want me so much. I want you, too. Always,” I tell him honestly. “I know I’m safe with you,” I add.

He tucks my hair behind my ear and slides his hand to the back of my neck, tilting my face up to meet his gaze. Kai searches my eyes for the truth, and then kisses me so sweetly before resting his forehead on mine.

“You’re incredible, Oakley,” he whispers.

“You too,” I mumble, snuggling down into his embrace.

Kai chuckles, then reaches for the blankets, covering us before tucking me into his side. I drift off to Kai telling me how much he loves me.

“Are you ready?”I ask Oakley as she cuddles into my side on the couch. So damn adorable.

Her inky black hair is still damp from the shower she just took, her face dewy and slightly flushed. Big blue eyes peer up at me, and I can’t help but lean in for a kiss.

I can feel Oakley smiling against my lips, and goddamn, it’s a powerful rush.Imade her happy. She wantsmykisses. I never thought this day would come.

The little siren licks into my mouth, making me growl at her eagerness. I slip my hands beneath her shirt, stroking her soft curves and pressing her against me. Oakley lets out a needy whimper, and I grab her thigh, pulling her on top so she’s stradling me.

We’re both breathless by the time we break for air. I tuck a few strands of her hair behind her ear before resting my forehead on hers.

“I’ll never get tired of that,” I whisper, rubbing my nose against hers.

“Of kissing me?” she asks, her voice soft and shy.

I nod, nipping at her bottom lip before diving in for another taste. Oakley wraps her arms around me, rocking against my already hard length. It doesn’t take much for my girl to get me worked up. We’ve certainly started making up for lost time.

Oakley tilts her head back, breaking our kiss. She grinds against me, but I grab her hips, stilling her movements. It kills me, but we can’t get carried away just yet.

My girl frowns at me, then giggles when I pepper kisses all over her face.

“Now, back to my question before you distracted me,” I say, going for a joke.

“Me? I believe you were the one who started this.”

“Damn right I did,” I rasp, nuzzling into the side of her neck. I breathe in the familiar citrus and sunshine scent, thanking every god I can think of that this woman is here in my arms. “And I promise to finish it, too. As soon as we get this phone call out of the way.”

Oakley’s shoulders fall, and I almost tell her we can call Clara tomorrow. But this needs to be done sooner rather than later. Things would be so much worse if she found out from someone else.

“I know,” she sighs. “You’re right. We just need to rip the Band-Aid off and deal with the carnage.”

I chuckle at her dramatics, though I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little nervous as well.

“I’ll do my best to make sure there’s no carnage, baby girl,” I promise.

Oakley nods, then climbs off my lap, settling next to me once more. I wrap an arm around her shoulders, pulling her closer. My sweet girl rests her head on my shoulder as I stroke her bare arm, gently calming her nerves.

“It’s time,” she murmurs, a slight tremble working its way down her spine. I squeeze her closer, pressing my lips to the top of her head before pulling out my phone.
