He smiled. “Can I kiss you?”

Emery trembled from head to toe. She trailed her tongue along her top lip and loved when he groaned softly. “If you don’t kiss me, I’ll tell the world the hottest, toughest cowboy I’ve ever met drives a sissy Tesla,” she threatened. “And wears pink underpants.”

Greer chuckled and then he softly, tantalizingly pressed his lips to hers.

Now Emery was the one groaning. The pressure of his kiss was perfect, and tingles erupted on her sensitive lips. She returned the pressure and clung to him as they tentatively explored each other’s mouths in a sweet expression that wasn’t demanding or in any kind of rush. Despite how tender it was, the passion in his kiss and his strong body pressed close almost overwhelmed her.

Emery ran her hands up his arms, over his shoulders and around his neck, tugging him ever closer. Greer slid his hands into her hair, gently massaging her scalp and making her tingle. He tilted her head slightly and continued to kiss her so beautifully. Of course it was perfect. This was Greer. She’d gone from terrified of this man and thinking she should hate him to wanting to spend every minute with him and thinking she may very well love him. Greer Delta was the perfect fit for her mouth and body. Could he be the perfect fit for her heart and soul?

He took the kiss to dizzying levels for a wonderfully long time. Then he eased back and studied her. His blue eyes seemed to penetrate her very soul. Did he already know her secrets? Would he hate her when she told him she’d crazily believed he killed her brother?

No. Not her Greer. He’d understand, he’d listen, and he’d help her and his family stay safe from the Voice or whoever their enemy was. Maybe he knew who had really killed poor Travis. Maybe he’d share whatever secret weapon his family was protecting.

Right now, she didn’t care. She only wanted to focus on Greer and savor every moment. She blinked up at him, unsteady and so affected by him. She wanted him to lean back in and kiss her more. A lot more.

Instead he murmured, “Night,” and sadly, woefully, regrettably, tragically released her.

She leaned back against the wall. “Goodnight, Maverick, Greer, my hot cowboy.”

He smiled, but she could tell he was slightly embarrassed by her calling him hot. He was so perfect.

She wanted to fling herself at him, but he’d said goodnight. Greer was a righteous man. He probably wanted to make sure they didn’t kiss too intimately, being all alone here. She staggered into her bedroom, not bothering to shut the door. Greer would come hold her after she had the nightmare as he did each night. This time, she would not let him go. She would kiss him again and then maybe she could finally tell him everything.

The kissing was all that really mattered at the moment. She put a finger to her lips and then she giggled like a teenager after her first kiss.

Greer Delta. What a man. Her man.

Really? Her man?

She wouldn’t complain if the title could be true.
