Page 14 of Double Teamed

The house is huge with a front porch graced with a porch swing to rock on at night. Or in the morning. The house must have at least five bedrooms. Maybe six. Way too big for a single therapist to have bought. Unless she wanted something else.

The backyard is a complete giveaway. There’s plenty of room for a swing set and all kinds of things for kids.

She wants a family. This house with the white picket fence and the gracious curves could easily cradle an entire family.

I nod my head and we both step out of the car. I can feel my heart racing under my expensive dress shirt. My breath stutters painfully as we step onto the porch.

Kade nods and knocks on the door. It opens after a few minutes and she’s standing there, a pair of dark framed glasses perched on the end of her pert little nose dusted with freckles. Her hair is down on her shoulders and it’s the first time I’ve seen it where it hasn’t been confined in some damn crazy twist that probably takes her forever to do when she could just leave it down.

My fingers itch to touch all that lusciousness, wrap it around my fist and make love to the woman that’s got my body and heart tied up in knots.

“What are you guys doing here? You shouldn’t be here.” Her soft eyes dart back and forth behind us, like someone’s going to pop out of the bushes and attack us all.

I take the advantage her distraction gives me and push my way in the door. Kade follows, shutting the door behind us. She backs away, her head high and her arms knotted at her sides. I stop and study her carefully, looking for any sign that she’s afraid. But she’s not. I can see the fire in her stormy eyes. Can practically feel the burn of her desire even from across the room.

My mouth tilts up and I grin wickedly. “I think you know why we’re here, doc.”

Her little chin notches up again and her pale cheeks darken to pink. “I don’t know at all. Unless you wanted to let me know how the meeting went with Kade? But you could have called the office in the morning and told Grey and he would have let me know.”

I shake my head and stalk closer, my hands clenched at my side. “Don’t do that. Don’t try to back away from what’s going on here. Don’t try and get your little lapdog to keep us away from you. It won’t work.”

She huffs out a frustrated breath and I see her blouse rise and fall quickly, my mouth watering at the quick glimpse I have of her nipples tightened to diamond tips. She wants me. She wants the both of us.I knew it!

Maybe she doesn’t want to. But her body sure as hell does.

I step closer, smiling when her head jerks back and she eyes me warily. But I lift my fingers up to push her long, wine red curls behind the shell of her ear. The same ear I lean into, my warm breath caressing it. I see her shiver and groan.

“You’re fired, doc,” I whisper huskily.

Her head whips around and her lips fall open and that’s all it takes. I can’t wait any longer. My lips slam down on hers and I’m pushing her back until her back hits a wall in the hall. She moans and I can’t let her go. It would kill me.

Every single breath that I have feels trapped in the glorious rush of our kiss. Our first kiss. And it’s more than I hoped for.

Her lips are soft and warm, the taste of her like the finest damn wine on my tongue. I moan and my hands wrap in that fall of her that’s been calling me like a siren since I walked in the door. My fist wraps it around and around until it’s coiled like a fiery ribbon that I pull taut, lifting my lips from hers, waiting until her darkened sea-glass eyes open, dazed and so full of desire it almost makes me come in my damn pants like a fucking teenager. Her lips are bruised and rosy. Her pale cheeks flushed with her desire.

“Why?” she asks, her voice just a thin whisper.

“Why are you fired?” Kade stands grinning over my shoulder and chuckles. “My meeting went so well I’m back on the team as of tomorrow for practice. I don’t need anymore therapy.”

I shoot him a dark look. “At least as far as the team’s concerned.”

He grimaces. “Yeah. What he said.”

My eyes swing back to hers and she gulps so hard I see her slim throat move. “Now you know what it means, don’t you, doc? We said we’d be back for you when the time was right. Well, there’s nothing standing between us now.”

She pushes gently at my chest and I let her move slightly, just enough to breathe. I’m not letting her out of my arms. Not fucking happening.

“You don’t know what you’re asking for.”

“I’m not asking. I’m telling you that you’re it for Kade and I. We’ve been looking for years for the perfect woman to be ours and it’s you. It’s always been you.”

She huffs out a breath that blows a strand of her hair across my face. I can smell the soft, floral scent she wears. It’s like a garden but with just a touch of spice. Like her. Sweet and pretty and just a little bit wild. I close my eyes and inhale the scent, feeling my cock jerk in my pants. Her eyes widen and that smoky green color that I’ve been dreaming about for weeks darkens to emerald fire.

“That’s right. Feel how much I want you. How much we both want you.”

“I can’t do this,” she whispers but even as she says it her hands are balling in my shirt and tugging me closer.

I lean into her and my lips barely brush hers, the slight pressure touching off fireworks in my body every damn place her body touches mine.
