Pushing to my feet, I grab her arms and hold her still, my own heart thumping furiously.

“I’ve tried not to say it but I just can’t not tell you that I want you!”

Her head shakes and she studies me like I’m a bug under glass. “I think you could have waited. And that’s fucking terrible english.”

I throw my head back and laugh. “God, I fucking love you!”

Her eyes widen, the dark lashes fluttering wildly. “You’re not serious!” she gasps.

She whirls and stomps to the door, attempting to open it. I grab it and shove it closed, moving to block her in and pushing my front into her back. “Let me go,” she grits out between clenched teeth.

“I can’t do that,” I whisper, feeling her shudder against me. My hands settle on the door by her head and I groan. “God, I need you so much, princess.”

“You’re a patient, Kade. I’m not going to lose my license for you or any man. And telling me right now when you know I’m so upset? That’s damn devious. You know I’m not able to put up as much resistance and that’s why you did it now! I can’t believe you. I was actually thinking that you might be a good guy! Now I know you’re just out for yourself.”

She shoves her hips back into me and I grunt, taking the brunt of it in my belly but feeling it all the way to my heart.

“I just wanted to make you feel better. To let you know that there’s someone who really cares about you out there.”

She wriggles around and stares me down, shoving at me hard to no avail. It’s almost funny how she’s all fluffed up like a furious kitten.

I push the amusement down. I think she might kill me if I laugh at her.

“I’m sorry if I told you at the wrong time, Alex.”

She hisses angrily, “It’s Dr. Wright, dammit!”

I shake her lightly and she gasps, her cheeks flushing. “It’s Alex and you know it. I’ve called you that in my head so many times. I just can’t stop myself from saying it. From saying that you’re mine. Ours.”

Her sea-washed eyes stare up at me. “Ours? What are you talking about?”

“You belong to me and Sebastian. You have since we saw you. It’s primal. It’s a force of nature.”

She shakes her head and pulls away from me, her arms coming around herself. “I can’t be what you both need. I can’t be what anyone needs. It’s just not in the cards for me. And today pretty much just sealed the deal for me.”

“You think because you lost a patient you can’t have someone who loves you? That you don’t deserve to be loved?” I move closer. “Oh baby. That just proves that you do deserve it. Only a woman with so much love to give and so much care for other people would take this so hard.”

She grimaces. “I should be more professional. I shouldn’t let it get to me.”

“You have a heart that feels things so deeply. That feels so much that there’s just no way that you couldn’t feel as hurt and angry as you do right now.”

Her mouth falls open and for just a moment a flash of what it would look wrapped around my dick while Sebastian makes love to her crosses my mind. I ruthlessly push it down. Not the fucking time. Not the fucking place.

“How can you be so sure? Maybe I’m just not good enough at my job? Maybe I’m just weak.”

I chuckle softly. “Sweetheart. You are absolutely not soft. Not weak. You are the strongest woman I’ve ever seen.”

“Well, I’m not the kind of woman that can be with two men. I have a license and I don’t think they’d take kindly to a woman being involved with something like that. It’s illegal.”

“It’s not illegal unless we both married you. One of us would marry you and the other would be your husband as well, just not on the license.”

“Whoa!”she shrieks. “What the hell do you meanmarried? Nobody mentioned marriage.” She’s gasping, her face pale, her curvy little body trembling.

A smile curls my lips. “What did you think? We just wanted to sleep with you? Nope. We’re in it for real with you.”

She waves her hand in my face. “Uh-uh. We’re not discussing this. You’re still my patient. Nothing is going to happen.”

I nod my head, leaning against the wall casually, my heart thumping out of control. “Not while I’m your patient. If that’s the way you want it, I would never put your career in jeopardy. But it’s not going to be much longer and I’m not going to be your client. And I want a shot. A fair shot. Just think about it for now.”
