“Don’t understand why or how.”

I was sure that it was because Dom was my brother. “Probably helps that my brother thinks I managed to keep this witness-free.”

Alex cursed under his breath. “You didn’t tell him?” he hissed.

He looked around, obviously worried that Dom would overhear us. Like most of the men, Alex had a healthy fear of my brother. Dom didn’t like to get his hands bloody, but when he did, he made sure to be covered in it.

I shook my head and gestured for Alex to follow me down the stairs. I didn’t want to have this conversation near my brother’s office any more than Alex did.

“What the hell does he think happened?”

I walked down the stairs and towards the elevator in silence. Dom put cameras in the front of the house after everything that happened with Sasha, and though they didn’t have audio, I wasn’t going to chance it.

“Marco!” Alex hissed.

“Shut up,” I muttered, glancing towards the cameras.

Alex looked as though he wanted nothing more than to tell me to go straight to hell, but he listened to me and kept his mouth shut.

“You never should have brought me here,” I told Alex as I pressed the elevator button.

“Don’t put this shit on me,” he said. “You are the one who went off half-assed and killed someone.”

I sighed deeply. Though it had stopped bleeding, my head was pounding in time with my heart beat. It made it difficult to think, which was a problem because I was in a deep load of shit.

“Look,” I said, leaning back against the elevator, “I didn’t go in there planning to lie to Dom, but he’s freaking the hell out.”

Alex looked like he was seconds away from having a heart attack. His eyes were wide in shock, and his skin was pale. If someone were to look at the two of us, they would probably think he was the one with the head injury and not me.

“Of course he was. We just ended a blood feud with the Russians, and you just barely escaped a murder charge.”

“And?”

Alex looked at me as though my head exploded. “Are you going to take any of this shit seriously? You left a witness.”

I inhaled sharply as I remembered the woman crouched behind the dumpster. I underestimated her, and she knocked me on my ass with a glass bottle. I was lucky she wasn’t strong enough to kill me with it.

“I just need time to find her,” I muttered.

Alex snorted. “And then what? You going to kill her? Then, you’ve got another body on your hands, and Dom breathing down your neck.”

I hated that Alex made a point. “I’ll deal with it.” The elevator doors opened, and I walked out into the garage. “The girl was dressed like a stripper, which means that she works at the club.”

“One of the men went back inside. All the dancers were accounted for.”

I released a curse under my breath. I didn’t know why the hell the girl was hiding behind the dumpster, but I knew that she worked for the club. I might have ended up clobbered, but I’d gotten a good look at her before that.

“She works at the club,” I said. “I’m sure of it.”

Alex walked towards his car. I wasn’t so reckless that I thought I could drive, so I walked towards the passenger side door. “She doesn’t.”

I breathed out a sigh of frustration. Much like my brother, Alex could be a real pain in the ass. “I’m telling you she’s a dancer there. She was dressed in a sequin bikini.”

“Maybe she knew Adrian,” he said.

I shook my head. “I’d been right behind him. He was running from me, not going out to get some ass.”

Alex’s brow wrinkled as he started the car. “Why would one of the dancers be out in the alley behind a dumpster?”

I shrugged. “If I knew. I wouldn’t have shot that asshole.” I could feel my frustration growing as the pounding in my head worsened. When I found that little bitch, I was going to make her pay for sticking her nose in my business. I wasn’t someone who appreciated complications.

“What are we going to do now?”

I smiled slightly at my cousin. Alex and I were always close, but it was nice to know that he had my back, even against Dom.

“I’m going to find the girl.”

“And?” he asked. There was a note of concern in his voice. I knew that Alex wasn’t going to like what I said next, so I stayed silent.

Once I found the girl, I would have no choice but to kill her. It was a shame too. Based on what I remembered, she was hot.
