“Thank you, honey bear.” Gunner pats Roman’s hand.
Miles shakes his head. “This is going to be a shit show of a wedding. Sophie has to go down the aisle four times?”
“Why not? Afraid you can’t keep up with that?” Nick asks with a smirk.
Miles narrows his eyes. “I’m afraid I’ll get fed up after the first two and not be willing to hand her over.”
“Dad!” Sophie admonishes.
“That’s a fair point, love.” Diana agrees. “And what if someone objects? I mean, they’ll have four chances. Who all is being invited?”
Sophie swallows. “I kind of … haven’t started planning.”
That gets all eyes but mine on hers. She fumbles for a response, then groans. “Look, I’ve enjoyed the last two weeks, okay. It’s been nice and I just wanted to be with you guys and do work.”
“Don’t worry, honey. We have plenty of time.” Diana waves. “What, a year? Two?”
“Seven” Roman mumbles.
“Weeks.” I clarify.
Diana lights up. “I’m stealing your fiancée at least twice a week then, boys. We have shopping to do, planning. We need to get the RSVPs out, especially since I have a feeling we’ll be headed to a destination. Oh, and the dress!”
Sophie pales.
“We’ll need Valerie for that, and plenty of time to look and adjust the dress to fit you. We need the venue, the caterers. There’s so much to do! Do you have any idea about the décor for the reception? What about the color scheme.”
“Oh god.” She drops her head to the table.
“Perk up, sweets,” Gunner says. “It’s not that hard.”
“Oh no, Just planning for four different grooms and setting everything up in seven weeks when normally there’s a thirteen-month waitlist.” Diana continues. “Men, do you have your bands yet? No? Okay. Sophie, buy them all rings first. And then we can figure out where this is happening and jump into action.”
I pet Sophia’s head and then kiss her temple. “There’s four of us guys who are more than willing to do as much as you want. Not to mention your mother.”
“So little time.” She breathes.
“And then it’s over and we can live happily ever after,” I promise.
She nods and lifts her head.
“The wedding will be in Paris. I’ve already contacted the Monet Gardens. I tried another garden, but since it’s public and no ticket or anything is required, they’re not able to ensure we don’t have uninvited guests joining.” Roman states.
“We have the venue for the wedding itself booked, so we just need a reception hall.”
“Oh no. You need something way better than that.” Diana insists.
Miles is trying to get a grip on the conversation, to maybe put a stop to the wedding entirely, but I know it won’t work. The more Diana gets excited and starts riling Gunner up with the idea of an open bar with a bartender, and pulls Nick in with a person who could do a live painting or four, the more Miles loses ground.
“Oh, love!” Diana turns to him. “After the wedding, since we’ll be there anyway, we can do a honeymoon of all of Europe.”
“Work still exists, Diana.” He murmurs.
“Oh come on. You’re the CEO. If you can’t take time off, no one can.” She pouts. “We didn’t have one before. How much time have you taken offby choicein the last five years?”
He tries to hedge around the question, but she’s got him.
Who knew it would be Diana that wouldavoida fight. Sophie takes a slow breath and looks at me. “Are we planning a honeymoon?”
