He nods.
“Any hint as to what’s going on in that brain of yours?” I ask, continuing to try to make conversation.
“Taking it in.” He says simply.
I shrug and walk over to Sophie and Holden. “Can I steal her for a dance?”
“I suppose you’re owed that for your work last night.” Holden sighs, but doesn’t give her up without a long kiss where I can see both their tongues. Sophie moans and he releases her, swatting her ass when she stands. “Have fun.”
I drag her against me and whisper in her ear. “You better be careful kissing like that.”
“Dad has Mom to deal with.” She huffs, moving her hips to the beat.
“I mean, you’re going to turn me on. You know how much I like watching you make out with other men.” I rub my semi-hard cock against her. “Got it?”
“Put that away.” She gasps. “We’re in public.”
“Oh I know. Did I ever tell you I ride the line between voyeur and exhibitionist?” I tease.
She rubs my sides. “I have a guest!”
“I know.” I chuckle. “Hence the warning, sweets. Be a good girl and I’ll be good too.”
We dance, then dance again. I twirl Sophie around, so she has her back to me and can see her friend frustratedly ignoring Hunter. She gives the occasional “sure” or whatever, but nothing positive.
“Want to deal with that?”
“Seems like a Valerie problem.” Sophie wraps her arm around the back of my neck.
We both watch as Valerie asks for a drink, then goes to stand with Lief. I’m kind of surprised considering how wild she was last night and her sharp tongue with me. Lief glances at her from the corner of his eye but doesn’t do anything else.
She doesn’t bother to try to talk to him.
“We have three wallflowers,” I comment.
“Holden’s doing well. Look …. He’s … oh god.” Sophie untangles herself when she sees her mom with Holden.
They’re dancing … well trying to. Holden was definitely not prepared for Diana’s dirty moves. I take another drink of beer and see Chase throw himself into the pool. He’s the first one, but as soon as he’s in, others join.
I take Holden’s seat since I have a feeling I’m not going to get much rest today. Valerie and Lief are nearby. Didn’t she mention wanting three men at a time? I put on my best innocent face and face the two.
“Val.”
“Valerie.” She points at me. “Hate that nickname.”
“I don’t think you’ve met my friend, Lief. He came with Hunter, the guy who was flirting with you, and Chase – cannonball man.” I introduce. “Lief, this is Sophie’s best friend.”
“Sophie … the girlfriend?” He confirms.
“Yeah. That’s the one. Since neither of you are talking to anyone else, you should talk to each other.”
They look at one another and Lief offers his hand. Valerie takes it and nods. “Nice weather for a pool party.”
“It is. Only a ten percent chance of rain.”
“I always wondered how they got those percentages. I mean, I get there are ways to guess, but it always seems like a guess. I think the numbers are meaningless.” Valerie takes another drink. “Want a beer?”
Lief watches her for a long moment.
