I give him a confused face. “What are you talking about?”
They exchange confused looks. I shake my head and continue. “I love you three so much and I know we haven’t been together long, but I haven’t felt anything close to this with anyone else. I know that you three are my forever.”
Lief takes a step forward.
I take a deep breath. “Anyway, I don’t want to live without you and when Chase asked me about the future I wanted, the only thing I was sure about – other than work – is that I want you three there. As long as I can have you, I want you. Without any catches, hang-ups or conditions, I want you. So ... I’m going to be greedy and ask you three to give me forever and to be my ... my husbands.”
I open the box and show them. “I was going to give you each your own proposal .... somehow. I was still working out the specifics but Lief went and ruined that.”
He rubs his bottom lip, then laughs loudly. Chase walks up to me and kisses me hard and hungry, licking into my mouth and making me melt. I almost drop the rings. He draws back and kisses me again before taking one and slipping it on his finger.
“Yes, baby doll,” He says but cups my face. “I’m angry with you, though.”
“What? Why!”
Hunter rolls his eyes. “We thought you’d taken one of our boxes. That you’d found it and were freaking out.”
“One of your ... boxes?”
Lief laughs again and takes the largest ring, slipping it onto his finger. “I’ll be yours, but only if you’ll be mine.”
He shows me a gorgeous ring. A diamond set between two sapphires in a silver band. I sniff and lift my eyes from the ring to stare at Lief. He shrugs. “I love you, Valerie. I’ve loved you since the moment you offered to take care of me. I’ve fallen so hard for you, I don’t know how tonotwant you. I promise to never wear a shirt in the kitchen. I promise to let you dissect my brain whenever you want. And I swear on my heart and life to make sure you never regret saying yes.”
I wipe at my eyes. “You asshole! Your proposal was so much nicer than mine.”
He smiles.
“Yes. Of course yes. I just proposed to you, why would I say no?”
He slides the ring on my finger and kisses me softly. Hunter stands there with his arms crossed. Chase just keeps smiling. I walk to Hunt and rub his chest. “I haven’t heard a yes or ... anything.”
“Lief’s not allowed to talk anymore. Not for the rest of this marriage. And you – you jumped the gun!” He taps my nose. “I worked so hard to keep the secret of us proposing and we talked to Tristan too, just to make sure that it wouldn’t be too much and now you go and propose while the ring I have for you is upstairs and...”
I wipe under his eyes since I know he’s tearing up. He shakes his head. “You know I love you, Valerie. For everything you are, for everything you add to the world, for your temper, your personality, your brain, your body.”
“I know, Hunt.” I kiss his neck. “I love you so much, I’ve been learning Russian while locked in the office too. I’m almost fluent now.”
He groans and kisses me. “Give me the ring, woman.”
I slide it onto his finger. “Is that a yes? You’ll marry me?”
“Yes, dorogaya. I’ll marry you and I’m putting a ring on your finger in just a second.”
He picks me up and kisses me hard. My heart threatens to explode from happiness as my men lavish me with affection and attention. Kissing me, touching me, hugging me. This is already different from what I imagined. Hunter and Chase hurry upstairs, leaving me with Lief. I nudge him.
“You’re a butthead.”
He tips my chin up and kisses me softly. “You’re not getting away with anything from now on, viper. I’ll have to keep my eyes on you.”
“That goes both ways. I had no idea.”
“I think you’re going to have to convince Hunter not to elope while we’re here. He wants the title.”
I grin and rub Lief’s chest. “What about you? How does ‘husband’ sound?”
His mouth fits to mine, drinking me in. “Almost as good as Viking.”
I laugh. Hunter gets his ring on my other hand and Chase slides his next to Lief’s on my middle finger. I stare at my hands, overwhelmed by the rings. They’re beautiful. None of them are over the top, but they’re perfect. I can tell they really thought about it. Hunter got me a simple, classic ring that reminds me of the 1920s and Gatsby without being giant. And Chase got me a pretty diamond on a gold band that has an almost organic feel to it.
