I scan his body up and down, and I make sure that he sees me looking. “I hate to tell you this,” I tell him, “but you’re a bit too attractive for a bar like this.”
The guy snorts, apparently amused, and looks over at me. Fuck, he’s even bigger up close. I want to lick my way up his chest. Just looking at him has me hot all over.
“Then what are you doing here?” he asks. As he speaks, I see the tiniest hint of extra-sharp canines. Mmm. That could mean a lot of different supernatural creatures. Most of us have extra-sharp teeth, spoiler alert. The idea of those sinking into my body, leaving bruises, has a shiver running up my spine.
“Maybe I’m waiting for someone to take me out of this place.”
The guy’s gaze draws slowly up my body, and I shiver again. There’s no mistaking the blue fire in his eyes. “I’m North.”
“Kiara.” I uncross and then re-cross my legs, and his eyes follow the movement. Perfect. If this guy can fuck me against the wall, I’ll consider this night a success.
His two buddies seem to have realized that their friend isn’t joining them at the pool table, and they walk over to join us. They’re staring at me like I’m their favorite food laid out on a platter. Oh my God.
“Well, well, well,” the blond says, smirking at me. “Looks like North made a friend.”
“Oh, I’m very friendly,” I assure him. Hey, I don’t care which of them I go home with. They’re all equally sexy.
“I bet you are,” the man murmurs. He looks over at North, and they share a pleased look, then turn their attention back to me. “So what are you doing here?”
“She said she’s looking for someone to take her away from this place,” North says, repeating my words to his friends.
The two other men get these hungry looks on their faces that have my blood rushing. They’re not being competitive, or if they are, it’s an extremely friendly kind of competitive. Could I be about to nab the luckiest score in the world?
“Her name is Kiara,” North adds, speaking to his friends but still looking at me.
“Cain,” the blond says. He holds out his hand. I give him my own too, but instead of shaking it, he turns my hand over and kisses the inside my wrist.
If I were standing, my legs would’ve turned to jelly. That was possibly the sexiest thing a man’s ever done to flirt with me.
“Raven,” the third man says, his eyes like chips of steel, his slightly shaggy hair falling a bit into his face.
“Charmed,” I reply.
“You look like you’ve had a bit of a rough night,” Cain says. “Drinking alone, rumpled up…”
I shrug and pout. “Well, I just found out my boyfriend was cheating on me, so I broke up with him. Now I’m here, trying to drown my sorrows.”
“What kind of idiot would cheat on you?” Raven blurts out, like he can’t help himself. The other two look at him, amused.
I can feel my face heating up. “A major idiot,” I assure him. “Especially with how… well I took care of him.”
All three men look at me like wolves that just sighted a deer. Fuck, yes. I’m not usually great at flirting, but there’s no mistaking the heavy aura of tension that hovers around us.
“Well,” North drawls, “sounds to me like you should have your revenge.”
“And be… taken care of yourself,” Cain adds.
“Oh, I’d love that,” I promise them. I can barely breathe, but when I finally manage to drag in air through my nose, their scents hit me like a ton of bricks. Each of them smells fucking delicious in his own unique way, all masculine, spicy scents that make my head swim.
Cain glances at North as if asking for permission, and then draws his finger slowly up my thigh. I can’t quite hold in my whimper, and the men all grin at each other.
“Wanna dance?” Cain asks, a lopsided grin curving his lips.
“Sure,” I breathe, as if I’m worried that speaking too loud will break the spell that seems to be building between us. “With you, or…?”
I glance at the other two men, swallowing. Their whole dynamic is hard to get a read on, but they clearly know each other well and are close. The way they move as a unit, each of them comfortable with and aware of the others, makes me wonder if Cain wants me to dance with just him, or all of them.
He runs a hand through his dark blond hair and grins even wider, his green eyes twinkling. “Well, let’s just get out on the dance floor and see what happens, shall we?”
