What else can I say?
Kai laughs.
I tip my gaze up.
“What?” I ask.
“Why are you so affected by him?” he inquires with a glint of curiosity in his eyes.
“I’m not,” I say, holding his stare.
His eyes are murky and equally lined with fire and filthy thoughts.
I know what he’s thinking. And I know how he feels. It’s how I feel.
The thought that Cardenas paid me, had me, and Kai watched us to a point where he couldn’t take it anymore turns me on.
It’s wrong, but it’s true.
I’m wrapped in guilt and sexual arousal. And I blame myself for feeling that way, yet I can’t stop.
I’m seriously hot, so I gather my hair with one hand and move it over one shoulder, hoping to cool off.
“Do you want anything else?” Kai asks before signaling to the waitress.
“No. I’m good.”
I’m anything but good.
“Can I have the check?” he asks when the woman nears the table.
“It’s been taken care of,” she says, pointing to Cardenas, who talks to his guests at the bar, his back turned to us.
“All right,” Kai says.
The woman walks away while he shifts his focus to me.
“He seemingly owes you a lot,” I comment.
“He does, doesn’t he?” he replies, flashing a wolfish smile, and my body temperature rises.
“Aren’t you even curious to know what happened that night?” I ask.
Holding my gaze, he searches my eyes.
“You mean sexually…”
I nod.
I have to satisfy my curiosity and find out if the idea is as sexually stimulating to him as it is to me.
“I can easily imagine,” he says.
With that, he cuts our conversation short and pushes his chair back.
“Let’s go,” he says, rising, stretching his hand out, and helping me to my feet.
His hand rests on my back, straight on my skin, when we turn around and walk away. I’m all flames under his touch, and things don’t get any better when we take the exterior stairs down instead of waiting for the elevator.
