“You’re not dangerous with me, but I’m sure you are dangerous with other people,” I murmur.
“Let’s say you’re right.”
“I also like that you give me freedom.”
“Freedom?”
“Yes. Your money means more freedom than you think. Everything comes sooner.”
“Uh-huh.”
“You seem amused.”
“Hmm…”
“What’s that? Tell me,” I insist.
“The money part of the agreement was Kai’s idea.”
“What?”
My voice shrills.
“Yes. I’d offered to double the money. He spelled out the conditions. I didn’t know the details, so I was fine with giving you the money either way.”
I’m frozen and no longer feeling like talking when he thrusts into me again.
Suddenly a blizzard sweeps through my veins.
My pleasure fades when he pulls out of me, summoning me to turn to him.
“Is something wrong?” he asks.
“No.”
“Don’t give me that shit. Tell me.”
“He wants me out.”
“Out?”
“Yes. We have a ten-week agreement, and we’re at the end of week three.”
His eyebrows lift with amusement.
“They get to have you for seven more weeks?” he asks incredulously.
“Yes. If we last that long. He just made it easier for me to walk away.”
“Will you?”
“I don’t know.”
“Why would you?”
Yes.
Why would I?
