RAVEN
“You’ve got balls,”he says.
I cock an eyebrow at him, strangely amused.
“Why would you say that?”
He takes my hand and makes me rise from the bed––his bed––step down, and stand in front of him.
The moonlight glides over us, highlighting my body, his white shirt, perfect smile, and eery eyes.
“To have that kind of agreement and still be here with all of them,” he murmurs, his eyes drifting down, taking inventory of my body.
“How do you know about it?”
He flicks his eyes up when I observe the edge of a tattoo peeking from under his collar.
“I’ve wanted in since Kai told me about the four of you spending some time in Miami, and I offered him my yacht. I knew what was going on even without him spelling out the details…”
His eyes are narrowed with a wolfish grin as he steadily holds my gaze.
“And I was curious how it went. I learned they didn’t make it to the ship. I wanted to know why. You can imagine the rest.”
“So, you know what happened last night?”
“Mm-hmm.”
His lips are pressed together, barely hiding his amusement.
“You’re a firecracker. Beautiful and unpredictable, and that makes things even hotter. You have some stamina to keep three men satisfied and on their toes. That’s why I want to get a feel of you.”
“Why?”
“Why?”
“Yes. Why? You have a lot of women on your yacht. I noticed someone constantly at your side.”
His stare goes blank, a secret smile tilting his lips.
“I’ve never been accountable to anyone. It’s not in my blood. And I’ve never been with a woman. I don’t need to. What you saw tonight was people socializing… Well… Sometimes. Not always.”
He smiles before continuing.
“The women in my circles fear me. Unlike you.”
Right.
Maybe I just hide my feelings better.
Regardless I look at him with different eyes.
His arrogance seems to fade––in my eyes––under the weight of his compliment.
“You thought I’d fear you too,” I argue.
“You do fear me. But your fears are different. You’re afraid of how I could make you feel, while they’re afraid of having their hearts broken. That’s a different kind of fear, and you don’t have that. Your fears actually make me hard.”
