“Too late for that, too, sweetheart,” I murmur. I lean down, sliding my hand against the pulse point in her throat and kissing her. It’s a light kiss, but one filled with promise.

“Maybe you shouldn’t call Callie. If you do that her and Reed will want to go with us,” I point out.

“Then call your mom so it will be perfect. That way, I’ll have all my family with me to celebrate.”

“Anything you want, sunshine,” I murmur, unable to stop myself from kissing her again. When we break apart this time, I kiss her forehead and open the kitchen door.

“Are you two getting married?” Lennon asks. “Cause if you get married then Jake can be my daddy and we can be a real family.”

“That’s what I want to know.”

My head jerks around to see my brother standing at the door. Anger boils up inside of me like red-hot molten lava. I want to lay into him, but I’m conscious of Lennon standing beside of me.

“So? Are you, Katie? Are you marrying the brother you’ve always wanted, so quick after throwing me to the curb?”

Motherfucker, I’m going to kill him.
