Chapter 5

Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.

Cole

Itighten my grip on Ellery’s hand and rush to the bedroom. I can’t believe this is happening. I’m not exactly a monk, but I don’t usually jump into bed with a woman within days of meeting her either. I normally prefer to get to know someone before I add sex to the relationship. But when she suggested we skip the getting to know you portion of the evening, I couldn’t say no.

I have wanted this woman since I first laid eyes upon her perfect heart-shaped ass. When she stood and I got a glimpse of the rest of her short, curvy body, I ached to pull her into my arms. I don’t know what kind of magic she’s using on me, but frankly, I don’t care right now.

When we reach the bedroom, Ellery wrenches out of my hold and pushes past me.

“Sorry. I didn’t plan…” Her laughter edges toward hysterical as she rushes around picking clothes up off the bed and from the floor.

“I promise I’m not one of those romance movie heroines who couldn’t decide what to wear for her date,” she says as she opens the closet doors and tosses the pile of clothes in her hands inside.

I’m relieved to see her flustered. Now I know this whole evening wasn’t some type of practiced seduction on her part. I feel guilty for even thinking it could be. Ellery West is not a temptress. She’s a small-town innkeeper. A sexy as hell innkeeper.

She slams the door to the closet shut, but it doesn’t shut completely so she throws her body against the doors to get them to close.

I chuckle and she glares at me. “I’m not a slob.”

I smirk. “And there wasn’t a pile of dishes in your sink when I arrived either.”

“You weren’t supposed to notice.” How could I not notice? They were piled higher than the faucet. I cock an eyebrow and she huffs. “Fine. You were supposed to pretend to not notice.”

“Forget I said a word.”

She rolls her eyes and steps away from the closet. A loud thud sounds from behind her, and she freezes. She waits for a few seconds but when no other sounds burst from the closet, she continues to me.

“Now. Where were we?”

She gazes up at me and bites her bottom lip, and I realize I haven’t kissed those luscious lips yet. It’s a mistake I’m correcting this second.

My hands cradle her cheeks, and she fists the front of my shirt before pushing up on her toes to meet me in the middle. Our lips collide. She doesn’t hesitate before opening up for me. My tongue invades her mouth, and I’m lost. She tastes of strawberries, goodness, and the wine we drank for dinner, and I can’t get enough.

Her hands release my shirt to wrap around me. She draws me near until I can feel her nipples rubbing against my chest. Two can play at this game. I thrust my hard length against her belly, and she lifts her leg to encircle my hips. It’s not enough.

I squeeze her waist and lift her before taking two steps forward to lay her on the bed. She wrenches her mouth from mine.

“I thought you’d throw me on the bed,” she gasps out between breaths.

“Next time,” I tell her before trailing kisses down her neck to her chest. She’s wearing a white blouse with tiny pearl buttons, and I can’t want to open her up like my very own Christmas present.

Her hands tangle in my hair and she pushes my head toward her chest. “Is someone impatient?”

She wiggles beneath me. “It’s been a while.”

I freeze. “How long is a while?”

“I’m not some lily-white virgin. I went to college. But choices are limited in a town of a thousand people, most of whom you either knew when they were picking buggers out of their nose or who are old enough to be your grandparent.”

“Good thing I’m not old enough to be your grandfather,” I murmur as I undo the first two buttons of her blouse.

“I’m more relieved I didn’t witness you picking your nose as a child. Gross.”

The laughter freezes in my throat when I open her blouse to reveal the white lacy bra she’s wearing. The lace does nothing to hide her pink nipples straining for freedom. I take a chance and bite down on one. She moans as her back arches nearly throwing me off of her.

I smile against her skin. Someone likes a hint of pain. Good to know. I pull the lace cups down until her breasts are revealed. I take a moment to admire the round globes of flesh before pinching her nipple. In response, she wraps her legs around my waist and rubs her center against my cock.
