I can feel the tears gathering in my eyes. “But I heard you.”

His hips drop, the sudden pressure of his cock against my clit making me moan.

“You heard me chewing her out.” The hand on my throat tightens again. “And if you’d stayed, or said something, you would’ve known that.” His hand loosens, sliding around the back of my head, fingers tangling in my hair and arching my neck. “But that’s on me, too. Because clearly you don’t trust me yet. And that’s my fault.”

“I trust you,” I whisper, the first tears falling free.

I believe him.

And I should’ve known.

I should’ve said something.

If only I’d said something.

My decisions put us both through so much hurt.

So much heartache.

Axel leans in further, pressing his forehead to mine. “You don’t trust me enough. If you did, you’d know that I’d never say a bad word about you.” He shifts, putting his lips near my ears. “And that’s my fault for not telling you.”

My hands clutch at his bare sides. “Tell me what?”

My throat is tight. Emotion filling my veins.

And then he says it. “I should’ve told you how much I love you.”

Something inside of me splits.

Straight down the middle, my soul is cut into two. Separating themefrom before, and themefrom now. Themethat I can be with Axel at my side.

And I feel like I can finally breathe.

Love.

Someone loves me.

Axelloves me.

For the first time in a dozen long years, I can finally breathe.

“I should’ve made it crystal fucking clear that you’re it for me,” Axel’s voice is thick. “You’re all there’s ever gonna be.”

His hips rock, and pleasure shutters through my core.

It’s too much. It’s all too much.

And it’s everything I’ve ever wanted.

Tears stream down my cheeks, and I inhale a hiccupping breath.

His lips press against the salty trail, “From here on out, you tell me everything.” His mouth moves to the other side, kissing those tears away, too. “Everything.”

Happiness and lust swirl in my belly for the best kind of high.

I let go of his sides and slip my hands up between us. Placing my palms on his cheeks.

He leans back enough for me to look into his eyes.
