Elouise
Before my lungscan exhale on a scream, my intruder jerks backwards. His arms grasp for purchase a split second before his face slams into the ground.
My would be scream of fear turns into a squeak of surprise and my hands fly up to press against my heart.
I have no idea what to do. Or say. But before I can decide his whole body disappears, pulled backwards through the opening.
My mouth opens and closes.
What the hell is happening?!
A footstep crunches outside my tent, and then another face is filling the opening.
Beckett’s eyes meet mine before flickering across my body. “One moment.”
Then he’s gone.
