“In Europe?” Caylee asked.
“Yes.”
“Why?”
“Maybe she’ll help get us out of the country and let us stay with her for a while.”
“Do you think she would let us?”
“It wouldn’t hurt to ask, right?”
“When are you going to try?”
“The next time the men leave us alone in one of their condos.”
Caylee nodded and looked down.
Holly knew exactly what Caylee was thinking and feeling and grabbed her hand. “I’ll miss them, too.”
“I can’t imagine my life without Nolan, but I’d do anything to protect him. Even if I needed to leave.”
“I feel the same way. I think we should pack a few things that we can carry easily with us. I want it ready just in case.”
Caylee exhaled and nodded.
“Hey, girls,” Jonah said behind them, making them both scream and jump.
His brows came down. “What’s going on?”
Holly shook her head. “Nothing. You just scared us.”
She could tell he didn’t believe her, but there was nothing she could do about it.
“Are you guys hungry?” he asked.
Food was the last thing she wanted, but it looked like everything was normal. “Yes. Can we call out for Chinese?”
Jonah nodded.
“Where’s my daddy?” Caylee asked.
“He’s on the phone. He’ll be right out.”
Caylee nodded.
“I’ll call in an order. A few of the guys are coming over.”
Holly nodded and tried to smile. “I’ll get plates and glasses out.”
The girls walked by him, and Holly acted as normal as possible, but she could still feel Jonah’s gaze follow them into the kitchen.
Chapter Nineteen
Jonah walked back into the office, closed the door, and walked behind his desk to wait for Nolan to get off the phone.
“What’s up?” Nolan asked, gaining his attention.
“The girls are up to something.”
