“Then we have to do whatever we can to keep them with us.” He’d be damned if those bastards would get their hands on the girls. He wouldn’t hesitate to kill them. People like that shouldn’t be allowed to live.
“I’m going to go check on the girls,” Nolan said and stood.
“I’m going to make some calls and then start on lunch.”
He waited until the person answered. “Hey, Brayden, I’m putting us on a three-way call with Jose. I’ve got a huge favor.”
“Sure.”
Jonah got the three connected. He took a few minutes to tell them the story.
“What’s their address?” Jose asked.
“I don’t know. I’ll get all that information. We’re keeping this all to ourselves.”
“Fuck, I would, too,” Brayden said. “Get their address and text it to us. We’ll check it out tonight.”
“Hey, great. Thank you.”
“I’m anxious to meet the girls,” Brayden said. “From the tone of your voice, they seem to mean something more to you.”
“Yes. Both Nolan and I want to keep our girls.”
“Lucky son of a bitches,” Jose said.
“It’s like the others with littles have told us. The ones we are looking for seem to fall into our laps.”
“I’m waiting for mine,” Brayden said.
“We’ll come by tomorrow unless we find something we think you want to know,” Jose said.
“Okay. Be careful.”
Jose snorted. “That’s my middle name.”
Brayden chuckled. “Right. How many times did you just about get us killed?”
“Just about. It didn’t happen, did it?”
Jonah grinned. “I’ll let you two work this out.” They were still arguing as he hung up.
“How’d it go?”
Jonah looked up to see Nolan leaning against the doorjamb with his hands in his pockets.
“Good. They’re going tonight after we get their address. How are they doing?”
“Still sleeping.”
“I think we should get them up when we have lunch ready. They didn’t eat a lot at breakfast.”
Nolan nodded. “Sounds good.”
They made soup and sandwiches before going in to wake up the girls.
Jonah saw Holly sitting on the side of the bed, looking groggy. He squatted down in front of her and set his hand on her knee. “Hey, honey. Are you hungry?”
She blinked a few times. “I … yes, I think I am.”
