What the hell?A loud noise coming from downstairs wakes me up from a good dream. Like really good. My skin still tingles where Dream Max’s fingers were branding my skin the way his eyes were searing my soul. And now, I’m awake instead of blissfully lost in a dream where I was about to have my fourth orgasm.

But as my eyes adjust to the darkness and Cinder slinks off the pillow she was hogging, it’s like I can still hear his voice.

And after a minute, I realize why.

Those raised voices filtering into my room aren’t from a dream.

They’re coming from downstairs, and they belong to Dixon and Max.

I throw my blankets off and hurry down the hall, passing Maddie, who pops her head out of her bedroom door. “D...” her sleepy voice cracks.

I stop and look back at her, awake but just barely. “What?”

“You don’t have on pants.” She points at my bare legs.

Oh well. My shirt covers my ass, and both men have seen me in less.

Okay, that sounds bad. But it’s not like Dixon’s seen me naked.

Oh my God. I’m justifying my own inner thoughts.

I need more sleep.

Max’s voice bounces off the walls of the house, but Dixon’s voice is louder. He sounds feral. “She’s asleep, like we all were until you started banging on my door at one a.m. I don’t give a shit if you’re my boss or not. You need to leave. Now.”

“I don’t care whether I’m your boss either. I’m not leaving till I see Daphne.” Max’s voice sounds lethal, with a sexy as fuck, authoritative quality to it that sends a chill down my spine. I almost wish I didn’t like it.

As I pad down the hall, Dixon’s big body comes into view in the dim light. He’s shirtless, with only dark-gray boxer briefs covering an ass anyone with eyes would want to bounce a quarter off. Guess I’m not the only one who didn’t waste time throwing on pants.

A different woman would at least get a tingle in her stomach in the presence of such a beautifully built man with so many hard-earned muscles on full display. But not me. No matter how much I wish it was that easy, it’s not Dixon who makes my belly quiver. It’s the jackass waking up the whole damn house in the middle of the night. “Dixon...”

He turns around to face me, giving me my first chance to get a good look at Max.

His hair is mussed, and his face looks tense. Coiled. Like he’s ready to snap.

“Go back to bed, D. I’ve got it handled.” Dixon turns back to Max, thinking that was the final word.

Umm.

I think not.

“I’m not your sister, Dixon, and I like you telling me what to do even less than she does.” I move next to him with my hands on my hips and catch Maddie out of the corner of my eye, peeking around the stairs.

She pokes her head out and jumps into the argument. “She’s right, Brandon.”

“Go back to bed, Madison.” Dixon’s face contorts at the sound of his sister’s voice.

My frustration continues to grow by the damn minute. “Dixon, I’ve got this handled. Thanks.”

A smug smile slides into place on Max’s chiseled face. “You heard the lady.”

“Oh, he’s not the only one I’m mad at, Max Kingston. I wouldn’t start getting cocky just yet.” I move my pissed-off glare between the two men until Dixon relents and takes a step back.

He runs his hand gently down my arm, and I swear to God, Max growls.

Actually fucking growls.

But Dixon ignores him. “Fine. Just yell if you need me.”
