I shuffle down to breakfast the next morning, a yawn splitting my mouth open. I never slept a wink last night, and I just hope I have enough energy to stay awake for the whole day.
I have chores after all.
After breakfast, I will clear up the dishes, then get to work on removing all the cobwebs from the ceiling. Then I will head over to Rose’s cottage.
I arrive at the dining table. Roman is the only one present. He reads a newspaper, and my heart lurches when I see the headline: Omega at large.
That couldn’t possibly be me, right?
Roman folds his paper next, then glances my way, and now he studies me silently as we wait for the others. His soft brown gaze cuts straight through me, and my heart pounds. I wonder vaguely if he knows what I got up to last night in the shower.
Am I showing any tell-tale signs? I looked okay when I checked the mirror earlier.
So, I imagine he heard Sebastian and Isaac too then. They were pretty loud after all.
“Did you sleep all right, Dove?” he asks, and I glance down at my feet. I wear little house slippers now, so at least I don’t have to walk around barefoot anymore.
“Y-yes…” I lie, taking my chair.
There’s a bowl of oatmeal with a jug of milk waiting for me.
I love oatmeal.
Roman doesn’t take his eyes off me the whole time I eat my oatmeal. I even add a couple of berries into the mix. I always loved the way they mixed in with the oats when I swirled the spoon.
“If you say so,” he remarks, grabbing several pieces of toast from a toast rack nearby.
He doesn’t believe me. I bet the bags under my eyes say it all;I bet my flushed, horny cheeks say it all.
We eat in silence, and thank God we have food to distract us. Let’s just hope Roman doesn’t probe me any further.
At least I’m starting to earn his trust. I no longer have to wear the tracker, and my heart feels lighter as a result. It was his way of paying me thanks for cheering up his grandma, and I hope he doesn’t see the smile on my face as I stuff my mouth with more oatmeal and berries.
Isaac and Sebastian finally arrive, and they both reek of sex.I try to hold it together, squeezing my thighs lest I cum on the chair.
They smell even better than they normally do, and I mentally chastise myself when I think of going into Sebastian’s room and stealing his bedsheets later.
I bet those sheets are drenched in both of their scents, and I will add them to my nest.
Sebastian’s burnt coal has a slightly sweeter tinge today, and I detect a hint of licorice too.Isaac smells like freshly mowed grass, and it’s sharp and lush.
Roman stills when they take their places at the table, and I wonder if he’s going to scold them.
I don’t feel I should be here for this, yet I’m glued to the chair.I kind of want to see how the conversation plays out. It’s not every day you get to see an alpha reprimanding his pack for having loud sex.
“You two certainly had fun last night,” Roman remarks without preamble, and I drop my head, gazing down at my oatmeal.
My cheeks heat up. I’m too afraid to look anyone in the eye. If I do, then I may give myself away. They may all know that I touched myself last night.
Isaac sniggers and a deathly chill wafts from Sebastian. All the while, Roman scolds them like a disappointed father or a disappointed older brother.
“You know I am more than okay when you both decide to spend the night, but I have warned you about noise. My grandmother is just across the grounds after all.”
Isaac guffaws, whacking his hand on the table as he makes the cutlery rattle.Roman cuts him off with a growl, and the sound makes me freeze.
He sounds so dangerous when he growls like that… and sexy.
