“I was just doing my job, alpha... R–Roman...”
Another quiet spell lingers in the room. I can feel their eyes all over me, and I’m too afraid to look up.
Roman addresses me yet again. “Well, you’ve done a terrific job so far. Thank you.”
Thank you? Today must be my lucky day indeed.
“Also... we can look into taking your tracker off. I don’t think we’ll be needing it anymore.”
I almost burst into tears at his words, yet I keep my emotions at bay, tasting my soup at last. I hum once that delicious carrot touches my tongue and all three alphas pause.
I open my eyes, realizing my mistake just a little too late.
Crap. Why did I have to make that sound just now?
Sebastian sneers. Then he gets up and leaves the room, and we all just stare at the door after him. I didn’t mean to offend him. I couldn’t help myself. The soup just tasted so great.
Isaac chuckles at Sebastian’s reaction, and Roman tells him to put a sock in it. Then the three of us finish our food in silence.
Now I can’t stop thinking about Sebastian.
I hope he’ll be okay.
