Stupid, really.
Yet that pork isn’t the only meat I have my eyes on...
Sebastian rises from his side of the table and starts cutting me some ham. I meet his eyes briefly when he places the meat onto my plate. Again, his pits of black betray no emotion, but there’s no missing the distant shimmer.
He nods, giving me permission to eat, and now all three of them watch as I lift the meat to my lips.
Sweet mother of honey… It’s honey-glazed ham. I haven’t had that since my grandmother was still alive.
I cut off another section then stuff it into my mouth, and soon I finish the whole plate, wondering how I ever lived without food like this. How am I even still alive? Sure, they gave us just enough nutrients to sustain us, but this is pure heaven.
I never want to stop eating like this again.
When I finish, I place my knife and fork down, then glance around the table. Each alpha stares at me, and I bow my head.
Did I do something wrong?
Nice one, Dove.
Isaac snorts, and I look across the table aghast. Why is he laughing?
“Fuck, you really know how to put it away, kitten...”
My cheeks burn bright red, and I peer down at my empty plate, feeling like a gross pig now. “S-sorry.”
There comes a growl, and my heart splits in two when I glance up in time to see Sebastian going for Isaac.
Yet the head alpha stops them in time. “Enough.”
Isaac and Sebastian stop, peering up the table at their alpha, and I watch in amazement.
Oh to have that kind of power. I’d be unstoppable.
The head alpha’s eyes find me again, and I look down at the table when I realize I’d been staring at him for too long. I only just noticed the small cleft on his chin, and so handsome. He’s handsome.
All three of them are, and my omega body can’t handle it.
“Dove, I suppose you’re eager to know why we invited you down here tonight.”
I was, but I didn’t dare question it.
The alpha goes on. “My name is Roman, and I am sure my pack brothers have already introduced themselves. I am the head alpha of Pack Cobra.”
Pack Cobra?
Carefully, I peer up again, gazing at him through my long eyelashes. His brown eyes are locked on me, and my perfume spikes when his gaze lingers on my breasts.
I need to get better control of my body. No scent spiking, and no thinking about their knots. Period.
Roman continues. “As the head alpha of Pack Cobra, I am the one who makes all the decisions, and it was me who decided to let you stay with us in the end. Well, after some convincing…”
He glares across the table at Sebastian. The latter doesn’t meet his gaze. He just keeps those penetrating orbs on me, and I suddenly feel as if I am under a microscope.
“Well, now that you’re going to be staying with us, I have a proposition for you. We will feed you and provide you shelter. So long as you are willing to clean for us.”
My heart pounds. I knew there would be some catch for my staying here, but I honestly don’t mind cleaning for them. It’s an omega instinct to keep things nice and orderly, after all. Messiness drives us insane.
“Also, you will assist my grandmother with her needs. She lives in a cottage on the estate. It’s not far from the house.”
