Dove

Ifoundashort blue dress to wear for dinner in the end, and the color matched my eyes. I’m not sure why the alphas have the dresses here in the first place.

Did they have a mate once? I did catch the faint scent of a beta in this room earlier.

Still, I can’t help but be envious. I try to ignore the green-eyed little monster that hisses inside of me like a rattlesnake at the idea of them having a mate, putting on my best pokerface.

I shouldn’t care whether they had a mate once; I don’t even plan on staying. I will escape. Now that I’m out of that awful, bloodstained cell, there’s nothing stopping me.

I may have to climb the wall around the estate, but if I can escape a prison cell, then I can escape a fancy estate.

This is so surreal. I will be joining three alphas for dinner as their guest. They are not going to kill me, and instead, they plan to house me and feed me.

Surely, there has to be a catch. I learned long ago that kindness doesn’t come cheap. And alphas always want something from omegas.

My body stiffens as I think I finally understand what they want, and a lump lodges in the back of my throat. Maybe I could try and escape tonight.

My first heat is coming up in two weeks after all. They must have caught a whiff of my perfume earlier.

Fuck.

I don’t care if the whiskey-scented alpha tries and shoots me; I am getting out of here.

I won’t let them mate me!

I start to panic, but then a knock sounds at the door, bringing me back to my senses.

“Hey, Dove… I don’t mean to bother you, but the boss has been waiting to eat for over an hour now, and trust me… you won’t like him when he’s hangry.”

Hangry? Wait? Angry and hungry?

How clever. I can’t believe Isaac doesn’t think he’s smart.

He’s been nothing but nice to me so far. That guy has my back. He even barged into the bathroom earlier while I was drowning.

I really wasn’t drowning myself. I just wanted to submerge myself in hot water. I’ve had nothing but a bucket of cold water to wash myself with these last few years. So cut me some slack.

Does Isaac truly care about me? I thought all alphas were cruel. My grandfather was always an exception to that rule, but both Isaac and Sebastian have shown me kindness so far.

Maybe they truly have had a change of heart. They don’t expect anything from me. They have decided to let me live, after all, allowing me to stay in their big, fancy house instead of handing me over to the government in a body bag.

Shit. The government. If anyone finds out what they’re doing, they’ll be executed for sure.

And it gives me the resolve I need.

I will be escaping tonight. I don’t want anyone to get hurt on my account. But I will escape on a full stomach at least. I will stand a better chance of surviving then.

With a deep breath, I let the air fill my lungs, blowing it back out slowly from my mouth. Then I make my way to the door, finding Isaac on the other side when I step out into the hall. His eyes fix on my dress. His lips move, forming words, but I don’t hear them.

The dress is simple enough. Silk with lace trim. It resembles a nightie more than anything, but the material is exquisite. It does show enough of my rounded breasts, though, and since I don’t own a bra, it displays my nipples.

They’re hard. Crap.

I cover up, realizing my mistake too late. I don’t know why I worry; he has already seen my breasts.

I slipped Whitney inside my panties just in case. You never know when she will come in handy...

Isaac licks his lips, and then his pupils blow out when he casts his eyes up and down my dress. My pussy clenches when his scent strengthens, drifting my way, and now I get a whiff of his wild grass scent.
