The heartless killer sighs. “Yes. Stop what you are doing, Roman. Do not kill that omega. She is mine.”
What? His?
Roman’s face remains a mask of stone, and he really is poised. How the fuck does he do it? He’s almost as scary as Sebastian.
“Yours?” he asks without inflection.
Sebastian nods. “That is right. The omega is mine. Mine to kill. I am not through with her yet. So let me take her back to the estate.”
My heart thuds and I peer down at the frozen omega. She covers her face with her hands, too afraid to look at us. For a moment, I thought Sebastian was claiming her as his potential mate. His voice had that possessive growl typical of alphas, yet it appears he just wanted to keep her alive so he could bring her back to the estate and kill her later.
Yeah, I’m not buying it. He can’t fool me.
I know there’s good in him somewhere; I know he didn’t have it in his heart to kill that omega.
Roman’s eyes dart back and forth between Sebastian and the omega. Then he sighs, dropping his gun. “Fair enough, Sebastian. She is yours...”
A wicked light flashes through Sebastian’s dead eyes, and now he steps toward the omega, lifting her to her feet. She no longer resists, and it appears she has finally given up the fight. She just lets Sebastian carry her away in his arms, and he doesn’t even spare her a second glance as we head back to the Jeep.
Well, it looks like the omega is coming home with us, and I hold onto some hope.
It appears we’re not going to kill her.
Well, for now.
Let’s just hope that I don’t have to fight my pack brothers.
I will not let them kill that omega.
