Iwatchhelplesslyas Sebastian breaks down before my very eyes, and what the hell has come over him?

I’ve never seen him like this, despite the fact that I’ve known the ruthless bastard for years. I know what he’s capable of, yet he falls apart at the seams over a little omega who smells like tropical fruit?

What did she do to him?

I keep a tight hold of the omega in question, tugging her closer when she digs her heels into the dirt, but I only have eyes for my pack brother.

He’s not himself, and I’m fucking freaked out.

“Hey, Bast... it’s okay. Everything’s fine. You caught the omega. You did enough.”

He shakes, dropping to his knees, and that's when I truly look at him.

There’s not one speck of gore to be seen on him. The same with the omega too. Apart from a few cuts and bruises, she's totally fine. Normally, I would find Sebastian's victims lying in a pool of their own blood right about now, but the omega is still breathing.

He doesn’t even hold onto his own knife anymore. It now rests in the delicate hands of the omega, and I snatch it away from her lest she gets any ideas about stabbing me.

She has a record, after all. I best be careful.

Sebastian pants for breath, glancing up at me next, and my mouth falls slack when I spy the shine inside his black eyes. They’re normally lifeless, yet it looks as if a spark of light has returned at last.

It’s like he’s come back from the dead. Even in our stolen moments together, he never looked so... human. He does everything with cold efficiency. Even when he fucks me, he’s thorough, only doing what needs to be done to ease the swelling of our knots.

What’s happened to my cold and detached serial killer?

I’m normally pretty twisted myself. All members of Pack Cobra are, yet Sebastian and I always took our love for dismembering body parts to the next level.

Hence why we make such a perfect pair.

Roman is more subdued with his bloodlust—a bloodlust he hides behind fancy suits and ties.

Sebastian looks as if he’s lost the will to live, and I just… fuck.

“What the fuck?”

We whirl around, and there we spy Roman in the shadows. He’s still holding the rifle, and I’m just glad that weapon isn’t intended for me. He looks pissed, and he’s definitely ready to wreck some shit.

The moment the omega lays her eyes on him, she squeaks, and something snaps inside of me.

I give her a soothing purr.

She stops fretting the moment the rumbling sound leaves my throat, and now she falls slack in my arms, allowing me to support her weight.

My eyes expand. How did I do that? It’s like my purr calmed her down. I don’t even know where the sound came from. She just looked so frightened; I wanted to reassure her, which is an odd thing for me to want to do, considering I’m a stone-cold killer.

Now I think I finally understand what came over Sebastian. It’s like the omega has cast a spell over me, and the last thing I want to do is kill her.

Instead, I want to hold her in my arms, cradling her like a baby as I purr into her ear. I want to protect her from every other alpha on the planet.

This is wrong; we can’t kill her. Yet we have no choice. We have a direct order from the government.

They want this pretty little creature dead.

She attacked an alpha with a shiv. She’s dangerous. We can’t have an omega like that living amongst us.

Shit. I’m so confused; I don’t know what to do.
