Enzo has spoken with her and assured her that she’s safe, but Madoc has been of no help. Alice is shit scared of him, and I will have to have a word with him later to tone it down a notch.
He thinks he’s helping, but he really isn’t.
I just feel so bad for Alice. She’s vulnerable, and I have no idea how to get her back home. I’m still not sure how she even got to the Abyss.
She says she just shut off her emotions, while I had to venture halfway across the country to find my dad’s old lab.
I never once gave in to the darkness. Sure, I was aware of it and I saw the devastating effects that it had on the population, but I was always able to keep my head above the water, and not sink into the pits of despair.
It was the same with the wraiths, too. I’d never felt so strong until I had faced off with one. I wasn’t able to defeat my own wraith, but when I saw what they were doing to Alice, I had to intervene.
I can’t stand seeing someone else suffer, and I suppose that’s why I am eager to take the risk and see the king.
Bring it on. I’m not scared of him.
I stop outside Enzo’s room to talk with him. Before my knuckles hit the wood of his door, he invites me inside.
“It’s open, Belle.”
How did he know it was me?
Pushing my way inside, I find him staring out the window. His orange, lion-like features are more discernible now, but he’s still a little blurred and shadowed, yet he has never looked more regal.
His cowardly behavior has shocked me. Out of all my monsters, I would have thought he’d have been the bravest, considering he looks like the personification of the star sign Leo.
I suppose he just doesn’t want any harm to come to his brothers.
“Enzo...” I start, but he stops me.
“It’s okay, Belle. I know what you came here to discuss. While I don’t agree, I can see your reasoning. We need to stop the darkness from spreading. It is infecting too many. It’s not sustainable for either of our worlds.”
He pauses a moment to peer out the window, gazing at something distant on the horizon. Then he sighs, closing his eyes. “But it would be madness to face our uncle. It’s been one hundred years and his threat was all too clear. I don’t want to see my brothers hurt. I don’t want to see you or Alice hurt.”
Again, I say nothing. I just keep my head bowed.
Enzo turns away from the window at last and finally faces me. His orange eyes burn like torches.
“But we can’t just sit back and do nothing. All... all right. We will go to the castle. Surely, our uncle will see sense and want to do something about the darkness.”
Tears burn the back of my eyes. I knew he would want to help. I just had to have faith in him.
I step toward him, pressing my head to his chest so I can give him a hug. “Thank you. It means a lot.”
We stay that way for a while, and I don’t miss the vibrating in Enzo’s deep chest, and it shoots straight to my pussy. He likes having me close.
“That reminds me,” he purrs. “There has been something I have wanted to show you ever since you arrived. We’ve been waiting a hundred years after all. Come.”
Well, call me piqued.
Enzo leads the way out of the room, and my heart thumps with excitement. What wonders does he have to show me? I hope it’s a new library.
We arrive at a room at the end of their log cabin, and I raise my brow as I peer up at the monster in question.
What the heck is in there?
Enzo produces a key from his pocket and slips it inside the door, and now we both step into the room. My chin hits the floor when I spy the gargantuan bed in the center.
Wowzers. It’s definitely fit for a king orfourkings. And maybe one queen too.
