I have an inkling that he’s aware of Ylfa’s involvement in the prophecy, and it’s just something else that he didn’t care to share with me.
I am sick of being left in the dark.
I can’t help but ponder if Cathy is aware of her daughter’s destiny. She gave birth to her, after all...
The pack ostracized her because she slept with a mated man, and now I’m wondering who Ylfa’s father was.
You never hear about him. Whoever he was, he must have lived in this pack. He obviously doesn’t anymore.
A shame. The guy deserves to be shamed for his crimes. He was the one who cheated. A mate bond is sacred, and shouldn’t be treated with such disrespect.
“Well, so long,” I say, moving around my mate’s mom as I leave through the door.
Before I depart, a frail hand grips my arm, and I turn back. Cathy’s green eyes stare straight back at me, and I do a double take.
For one who hates her daughter so much, she looks an awful lot like her.
“Please... whatever you do... make sure he doesn’t hurt her... keep her safe...”
I blink. “Of... of course.”
Cathy removes her hand from my arm as if my skin has burned her, then scurries off between the shelves.
I don’t need to ask her to clarify. I know she’s talking about Ylfa. She wants me to keep her daughter safe from my uncle.
That I can do no problem.
I will take great pleasure in ripping his throat out one of these days.
Mark my word.
I just have to time it right.
I am going to overthrow my uncle, after all. I just need to find proof that he’s not as trustworthy as the pack likes to believe.
For my mate, I will do it.
