Must be nice to be related to an elder...

I exhale. “Fine. But you go first. Patrick and I will follow you down.”

He grins. “Afraid of the dark, are we? But the pleasure’s all mine, sweet petal.”

My blood reaches boiling point. “I said don’t call me that!”

His rich, velvet laugh echoes up to us from a set of shadowy stairs below, and I grab onto Patrick as my heart jumps to my throat.

Well, it looks as if I’ll finally get to meet Raven again. My so-called nemesis.

Hunter leads us downthe dungeons as a rotten stench of mildew prickles my nose, and why did I have to trust that pretty bastard?

Patrick trudges behind me, and it appears my men are sandwiching me between them. Just like the other day when we made love.

Who knows what kind of scary creatures will jump out and attack me? But it’s not ghouls I’m scared of. It’s guards.

Hunter may be gifted in the art of communication with that silver tongue of his, but that won’t stop one of the alpha’s men from throwing a punch his way.

The male will only be following his alpha’s orders.

We pass empty cells, and I wonder if these cages were built for the purpose of holding humans.

“Just around the next bend, and we will finally be there...”

My heart thumps. Thank goodness.

The lack of light in this place is depressing. Poor Raven. I can’t imagine being alone down here with nothing but your enemies.

We stop at another bolted door. Hunter produces a key from his pocket as Patrick and I share another glance, and then he opens the door and steps inside.

To my relief, the dungeon room is empty. We meet no resistance on the other side of the door.

However, my gaze lands on the slumped figure in a cell beyond, her black hair falling limp over her face like curtains.
