Well, it’s definitelyan upgrade from my cottage.

Our cabin has a large hearth, a beautifully furnished kitchen, and lots of light.

It seeps in from wide bay windows, and the best part, the cabin has several rooms.

My cottage is just one room, and maybe I should take advantage of my new position in our pack and request a bigger house.

You go, Ylfa. It’s what you deserve after all, Silver says inside me.

I roll my eyes, twisting the tap in the kitchen, laughing hysterically when hot water spurts from the faucet.

I think I will,I reply, smugly.I may even ask for a house with a working boiler too. I earned it after all.

Silver narrows her eyes in approval. We both earned our right for the luxury of hot running water, and we’ll gladly take it.

I will be sharing this new home with my mate, of course. Patrick comes up beside me then and chuckles at my reaction to the hot water.

His cottage lacked hot water too since he heated his water above the stove, and we’re definitely moving on up in this world.

Maybe you should demand a room at the fortress too, Ylfa. You are practically royalty now, why not...Silver purrs.

“I think we’re getting a little ahead of ourselves, Silver,” I speak out loud, and Patrick glances my way, his mind spinning a mile a second.

Oops. I meant to keep that inward.

“You’re talking to your wolf again.”

I peer at my feet, sheepishly. Silver growls at my response since there’s nothing sheep-like about either of us, so I look up at my mate and sigh. “Yes.”

Patrick pulls out a stool at the kitchen island, folding his arms. “What’s she saying to you?”

I scoff. “That I should be demanding a room at the fortress. The nerve of her...”

I laugh to myself. Patrick falls silent beside me, and I can see he’sthinkingagain.

“Interesting. Lucky hardly says more than two words at a time. He’s very simplistic in his word structure. I think it goes for most wolves too.”

That is odd. Silver is more evolved than the average inner wolf, and I can’t help but wonder why. Was it one of Luna’s gifts?

All wolves are a gift from the moon in some way, but my wolf is a gift especially. Silver is Luna’s own pup. She made her in her image then combined her with my features, and that’s why she has green eyes.

So, I guess she has a likeness of us both...

A little creepy, but at the same time, soothing. It’s like I’ll always have a part of Luna inside me.

I need her guidance, after all. There are hard times ahead.

Hunter, hopefully, will be able to grant me another audience with his Grandpa Floyd. I need to get his permission to allow me to talk with our human guest.

Well, guest is putting it lightly. She’s a prisoner.

She’ll be staying down in the dungeons beneath the fortress. Getting to her won’t be an easy feat, especially since the alpha seems very keen on keeping me away.

She’s his prisoner, after all. While he may not be the sole one in charge anymore, he’s in charge of Raven.

I move to the couch, and Patrick follows me. Songbirds trill outside the open window, and I take Paddy’s hand.

“Look at us, hey. We’ve got our own luxury pad now. Not bad for a former dud and a bookworm...”
