She looked up to meet his eyes and stared at him with a smile before asking, “How has yer day been?”
“Awful. Yours?”
“Some parts good, some parts bad,” she replied truthfully. “What happened?”
“We cannot find any new evidence that points us toward the murderer, and it seems the only thing we can do now is forget about it,” Ronin answered.
“That’s what happens here most of the time. People refuse tae make the effort tae solve the problems,” Edna answered.
“But I will not give up. I promise you that I will continue searching until there truly is no more hope,” Ronin promised.
“I will pray that ye succeed in this endeavor,” Edna said lovingly.
“Why were parts of your day bad?” Ronin asked. It made her realize that Ronin was genuinely interested in knowing more about her and becoming an active part of her life.
“I talked tae my mother about my father’s death and the rumors that surrounded it.”
“And did you not like the answers she gave?”
“She was willing tae talk with me. She reassured me about a lot of things. Though one thing she mentioned may make things difficult for our future,” she told him; not wanting to hide anything from him.
“What do you mean?”
“Well, ye see, the reason yer father killed mine was because there was a rumor that yer mother, Mara, was interested in my father. Yer father thought they were having an affair. My mother told me that she didnae believe the rumors at all. It makes my heart peaceful knowing she doesnae believe a word, but one thing I didnae ken was how much my mother hates the lairdess. When I tell her about us… she will not take it light,” Edna explained.
"Edna, I know there will be complications if we decide to tell our families, but none of them will prevent me from doing so.It makes no difference to me how our mothers feel about each other. What matters is that you're with me, and together we can fight anyone who has a problem with our relationship," Ronin said, his tone firm. Edna smiled at him, knowing she felt the same way.
She supported herself on her elbow so she could look at him. She bent down and kissed his lips softly. He raised his hands and held her face in place as she retreated. Instead of letting her go, he drew her in and drove his tongue inside her mouth, kissing her hungrily. Edna had wanted to kiss him and had eagerly opened her mouth to let him in. They kissed for quite some time before she felt hishand run over her body, exploring it.
“Ronin,” she moaned as his hands stroked her lower back. He turned her around and pushed her back on the bed as he started kissing her neck. He held both her hands above her head. Edna felt completely at his mercy, and her body burned for his touch. She felt his tongue run across her lower lip, and then he moved lower and lower till he had reached her chest.
He stopped kissing her and looked into her eyes purposefully as he pulled her dress down, exposing her flesh. Edna arched her back as the cold night air hardened her buds, and she felt a shiver run down her spine. Ronin bent down and placed little kisses all over her breasts, avoiding the one place she so desperately wanted his tongue.
“Ronin, please,” she whispered and he looked up once again.
“Please what, my darling,” he whispered back; his voice hoarse.
“Kiss me,” she replied and he smiled at her. Edna felt as if her entire body was on fire as he licked her already hardened buds, and she was careening towards something mind-blowing. Her breathing became shallow as he continued to ravish her, and she couldn't believe that something so simple could feel so good.
She reached down and began to remove his clothes as soon as he let go of her hands. She drew his shirt over his head after untucking it from his kilt. In the moonlight, his bare chest shone, making his skin appear strangely magical. His breath hitched as she ran her fingers over the mass of curls on his chest. He sat up, looking down at her with a desire in his eyes she had never seen before. He slowly drew her dress over her hips and down her legs, exposing her completely beneath him. Edna felt his hand trail along her thigh and parted her legs willingly for him.
“Ronin,” she moaned again as his fingers made contact with her womanhood and he rubbed her with slow, purposeful strokes; bringing her closer and closer towards a pinnacle. Just as she thought she would explode, he stopped and Edna moaned in frustration at the sudden loss of contact.
“Not so soon, my love,” he teased and stood up to make quick work of his kilt. Edna watched as he crawled over her again, the proof of his desire right in front of her. She waited patiently as he crept inside her, filling her up. She took a deep breath in as he grabbed her lips with his and slid the rest of the way inside her. As he began to move, the sharp pain she felt quickly turned into pleasure. They lay in the darkness, their bodies entwined as they finally reached their climax together. Edna had never been happier.
As soon as Ronin reached his own release, he gathered her in his arms and hugged her closely, repeatedly placing kissing on her lips and forehead. She waited for her breathing to calm down while smiling up at her husband who had just made her feel like a woman.
“Are you okay?” Ronin asked; concern evident in his eyes and his tone.
“I am perfect,” Edna assured him.
They remained like that for the majority of the night, talking to each other and sharing the most intimate details of their lives. Edna was aware that their marriage was unusual, but Ronin was doing everything he could to make everything perfect for her.
“Ronin, thank ye,” she whispered; after sharing a few moments of silence.
He looked at her with confusion before asking, “Whatever for?”
“For being there for me. Thank ye for choosing to be my life partner,” Edna replied.
