“You don’t have to change my seat.”

Nash pulls me closer and whispers in my ear. “No one deserves what she’s trying to do to you. She’s trying to rub her betrayal in your face. I won’t let that happen.”

I pull back and look him in the eye. “Because of what happened to you?”

“Partially. And also because you deserve so much more. Your honesty and integrity should not be punished.”

His hand moves up and down my back as he speaks to me. I’m sure he means to be comforting, but the heat of his touch has my skin alive with sensation, even through my clothing. I’m not sure about sitting beside him for the few hours it takes to get to Mexico.

ChapterThree

Nash

“First class? Oh, Nash. You really didn’t have to do that. I know you feel bad—“

I lay my hand on her arm to stop her rant. “I don’t feel bad.”

“Then what would you call it?”

“Protectiveness? Vengeance? Living vicariously through you? I wish someone could have saved me from humiliation.”

She smirks. “It’s a little late for that.”

“Cause he still cheated?”

She shrugs. “He says he didn’t cheat. Doesn’t make it any less humiliating that he dropped me like a hot potato as soon as she offered to have sex with him.”

He thought sex with the other girl would be better? “What an idiot.”

She snorts.

“He’s not good enough for you. In my experience, if the sex isn’t good, it’s on both partners. I’m betting he’s more than half to blame.”

Luna stills. Then her shoulders creep up to her ears.

“Luna, no matter what he told you, it takes two to—“

“No. It’s not that, it’s… “

Now my curiosity is piqued. I press my shoulder to hers and lean closer. “You can tell me anything. We’ve seen each other’s humiliation. How could it be worse than that?”

“We haven’t had sex. I was planning on doing it for the first time in Mexico, but…” she shrugs.

I shift in my seat as my dick takes notice of the conversation. Don’t get me wrong, Luna’s sexy as hell. But she’s been firmly in a box I’ve labeled ‘untouchable’. Her admission doesn’t really change that, but knowing she’s picky, discerning, somehow that turns me on in a way I’ve never felt before.

“How long were you guys together?”

“About four months.”

“I think it’s good to make sure you’re both there for the right reasons before having sex with a new partner.”

Her gaze darts away when I say ‘new partner’ and a thought pops into my head.Is she a virgin? That shouldn’t matter one way or the other, but it’s just one more thing that makes my protective instincts surge.

“Luna, was he going to be your first?”

Her gaze darts all over the plane, looking everywhere except at me. That’s answer enough for now. When she looks over my shoulder, her face sags into a frown. I have a good idea of who just walked into first class.

I lean forward and use my index finger to turn her face back toward mine. “Concentrate on me.”
