The large Prillon motioned for Rachel to come to his side and she did so at once. He wrapped an arm around her and she melted into him, accepting the comfort. I knew exactly how she felt because Varin’s strong body was the only thing holding me upright.

Those adorable twins. “CJ and RJ? A Nexus unit tried to take them, too?”

“Yes.” Rachel nodded. “She was newly pregnant and the Hive took her to an underground lab and were going to do experiments on them.”

Oh shit. “Why? What are they doing?”

“We don’t know.”

Doctor Helion sighed like we’d just killed his favorite puppy. “I will be there in a few hours with a strike team. Keep her sedated. We can’t afford to lose her to the Hive mind before we locate the prisoners.”

“I’m right here, you know.” Jerk talking about me like I was an object and not a real, living, breathing human being sitting here listening to every word.

My irritation did nothing to affect him as the screen was already blank. I looked from the screen to Doctor Surnen and shook my head. “You try to stick a needle in me and it’ll be the last thing you ever do.” I meant it.

Thomar moved to stand between me and the doctor. “You heard my mate. No sedative. I don’t care what Helion said.”

“Agreed. We just got you out of a near comatose state, my lady. We do not want to risk sending you there again.” He grinned at me then and now that I was used to looking at these Prillon warrior hotties, I had to admit he was kinda gorgeous. Not as sexy as my mates, but still. Not bad at all. Mikki was lucky to have him.

Mikki. There was a human woman I hadn’t met yet. According to Rachel, she was off collecting samples or something with a science team. These ladies on The Colony were all amazing and I was…just me. Totally not amazing at anything except surviving.

I reached for Thomar and wrapped my hand around his forearm. He moved to my side instantly, just as I’d known he would. He thought he was a big, mean brute. He was just a giant teddy bear. Not that I’d tell him that. Varin was stoic and more in control than Thomar. In fact, Thomar and I both needed our second to anchor our crazy emotions. But I wouldn’t tell him that either. The egos on these two mates of mine were big enough already.
