Before I can answer him my cell rings. “Hello. We’re on our way.” I say and hang up. “Call the family Asher, Eliza and Emerson found your killer.”

Asher

We get to the house the same time Eliza and Emerson did. In the matter of an hour the entire family is in the living room waiting for whatever the twins have to say. Finally, Anson and Aryan walk in and we get down to business.

“After working with your brother, we realized that your sensors were picking up an extra person in the club that night.” Eliza says.

“I hope you got rid of your security team before you opened you new location.” Emerson says with obvious disgust. “It took a long time going through previous taste test nights to notice the pattern.”

“Your security gets really laxed after a certain time at night and they no longer check invitations to the guest list. If it wasn’t for the sensors, you placed around the club we would have never been able to figure out who he is.”

“So, who’s on borrowed time, drop his name so we can go have a conversation with him.” True says. “By the way is that the CZ Shadow 29 mm Luger Pistol with the gold handle in your thigh holster?”

“Yes, it is.” Emerson says and she releases the clip, pulls the slide back to release the bullet in the chamber and hand the gun to True.

“Oooouuu, I like this! Atlas baby can I have one? Please?”

“Can we focus please,” I say shaking my head at True and her obsession with weapons.

“Sorry.” True says as she passes the gun back to Emerson. “But for real we just want to talk to him, so just drop the name.”

“Gary.” Emerson says.

“Excuse me!” Asher thunders. “The cops looked into him. He was at a company dinner that night with a restaurant full of witnesses. And they tracked his phones GPS to the restaurant as well.”

“Did you know he went missing for about fifteen minutes?” Eliza asks. “When the police asked and everyone said he was there that’s where the investigation ended. But when Emerson and I began asking questions everyone recalled a time where no one could remember seeing him. They all thought he was with the other group but then that group said the same thing. So, we dug a little further, did you know he did competitive speed cycling in college? He has a collection of gold medals boasting of how good he was. Well, he never really stopped, he has a cycle in his home that has been modified into a stationary bike and he rides it every day. He was the one to convince his boss to pick that restaurant for them to go to that night. Days before the dinner he parked his bike behind the restaurant.”

“Are you telling me he was able to go over two miles on a bike to my club, go in kill Antonia and get back within twenty minutes?”

“That’s exactly what we’re telling you. Eight minutes to get there and back, seven minutes to get in the club and bribe Lynn and five minutes to strangle Antonia. He even picked a night that had several birthday parties to blend into the crowd since his boss let him handle the reservations. He planned it perfectly. The only thing that tripped him up was your sensors.” Eliza says.

“The sensors showed that every time you had a taste test night he was in attendance. He took his time and learned your routine, but he only stayed long enough to get in get the info he needed and get out.” Emerson says.

“Well, I think it’s time I had a talk with Gary,” I tell the room and get up to leave.

“Asher baby I am not sure you are in the right frame of mind to go have a conversation with him. We’re getting married soon.”

“I’ll be back Mianach, okay. Stay here with my sisters and let me go handle this business.”

“Wait, why do I have to say here? I wanna go! How come they get to go?” True says with a pout, pointing her thumb at my brothers.

“Everyone is staying here; I have to handle this on my own.”

“The fuck you will Ash,” Josh booms out. “We’re all going, well the men anyway.”

“And what are we shrinking violets? Just gonna sit her and practice our needle point? I think the fuck not!” Savvy declares.

“I’ll go with him.” Anson says.

“Great! Crazy and crazier. Yeah, that makes much more sense,” Joyce laughs.

“Let’s go Anson.”

“Oishin please.” Carla says and I pause. That name on her lips is my kryptonite.

“Dove, do you trust me?” I turn and ask her cupping her face.

“Yes.”

“I’ll be back and then we’re getting married.”

“Okay, Anson take care of my heart,” He nods and we walk out to have this conversation.
