Chapter 10

Savvy

I cannot believe Jag put me out last night and he had no remorse whatsoever. We pulled up to Saint’s house and just in time because the delivery truck pulled up 5 minutes later. Jag and I began putting stuff together and setting the baby’s room up.

About an hour into it we hear Saint and Mell pull up, as soon as they walk in, I quit and go grab my granddaughter. I tell Mell to go sleep and tell Saint to go help Jag with the rest of the stuff. About an hour later the front door opens and I come face to face with my ex and the father of my children. I just barely stop short from rolling my eyes when his girlfriend walks in right behind him.

“Oh, I see you came on back home, I told Saint you wouldn’t last for long down there in Mississippi.”

“Hello to you too, William.”

“So, what are you doing living with Saint and Mell since you don’t have a place to stay anymore since your dad left?”

I take a deep breath to stop myself from going the fuck off. I swear to the sweet little cherubs above this man brings out a whole another side to me.

I ignore his questions. “What are you doing here William?”

“We came to see our granddaughter,” Robin replies.

“Um our granddaughter?” I say

“Yes we Savvy, since Will and I are married now so technically I’m the baby’s grandmother too.”

I am so grateful that my dad is a pastor and I know some immediate prayers. Because do I care that he finally married her... No. But does this bitch get under my skin... hell yes.

“Oh congratulations! I’m happy for y’all. And my name is Savannah and I’m not gonna tell you that again. I say with a sickly-sweet smile on my face and a try me hoe in my eyes.

“And what about you Savannah, did you get married in the few weeks you were in Oklahoma?” Robin asks.

“No since I wasn’t in Oklahoma.”

“It wouldn’t have mattered where you were Savvy, you like being single”, William says, a/k/a no one wants you, so you have learned to be alone.

I just grunt. “I thought you were here to see Sarai.”

“Oh yeah where is the baby?” William says as if he can’t see the whole bassinet sitting right next to where I am sitting.

He comes and picks the baby up. “Let’s have another baby Will”, Robin says to him.

I just cut my eye over at William because he’s my age and he’d be a fool to have another child. You would think ten is enough, but who am I? He ignores her and turns his attention back to me.

“You didn’t answer my question Savvy, are you going to be staying here with our son until you can get back on your feet.”

Wow, I think. The desire to dick punch him is almost overwhelming.

“I have no intention of answering your question William seeing as it’s none of your damn business.”

“Oh, I was just looking out for you. I know you don’t have no one to help you move your stuff in here, so I was gonna call our other sons to help you.”

“The audacity! Well save your time because I didn’t ask for your help and I don’t need it.”

“You always had a smart-ass mouth that was one of the main reasons I never married you.”

“Oh, is that the reason? I thought it was the four other kids you had while we were together or all the other women you fucked.”

“Maybe if you didn’t have that mouth and attitude I wouldn’t have had to go elsewhere.”

“Aren’t you married William? So why are you bringing up old shit that doesn't matter anymore? It’s been eight whole years. So yeah don’t worry about me, where I’m staying or if I get back on my feet, worry about your wife.” I turn to his wife. “Robin get your husband.”
