Page 17 of Stalking Sophie

As we get closer to the front of the line, the bouncer’s eyes widen in recognition, and suddenly, we're no longer treated just like everyone else. He quickly makes his way over to us and motions us forward. "I'm so sorry, Mr. Black. I didn't see you."

"It's no problem," Axe assures him.

I look between the two men, and then comprehension finally dawns on me. I glare at Axe. Unbelievable. "This is your club?"

He smirks and shrugs his shoulders. I should have fucking known it. The man seems to own every club in the area.

"Just how many clubs do you own?"

"A few." He shrugs again like it's no big deal. "Why?" He hits me with the full force of his gleaming smile.

I don't answer him. Instead, I walk ahead of him into the club, though I feel him close behind me. He doesn't let me get far. Before I can maneuver my way away from him, he grabs my elbow and starts steering me over to the bar, where he orders us a couple of drinks.

I sit there sipping my peach martini, completely irritated and yet unsurprised that Axe knew my favorite drink.

I cast an eye out over all the people dancing, and then I glance over at Axe slyly. He doesn't look like the kind of man who's going to hit the floor dancing. He's much too serious and macho for all that.

"I'm going to dance," I tell Axe before I push away from the bar and start making my way forward.

I feel him come up beside me and grasp my elbow, pulling me back.

I scowl up at him. "Do you have a problem with me dancing? That is why I came here." I'm a liar. It's not really. I came here to try to distract myself and forget about him, but there's no way in hell I'll ever admit that to him.

"Not at all." He grins down at me. "I just thought I'd dance with you."

My eyes widen. It never occurred to me that he would actually dance with me. He just seems so businesslike and no nonsense, especially since he's the owner.

"Don't look so surprised, my little ruby." His beautiful lips quirk up, and his tone softens as he calls me his nickname for me.

The next thing I know, he's grabbed my body and turned me so that my back is flush against his front. We start moving and swaying to the beat as one. We move fluidly together, and I finally surrender myself to the feeling, abandoning myself to the beat of the music.

His hands are on my hips, and I can feel his hardness grinding against my ass. My entire body is buzzing and pulsing in time to the music, and I feel wetness pooling between my legs. I'm just as turned on as he obviously is. I love the feeling of his arms wrapping around me from behind.

His nose nuzzles against my neck, and I tilt my head to the side, completely entranced by him in this moment. He plants a tiny kiss on the column of my neck before his lips move right up to my ear.

"Do you feel how perfectly your body moves with mine, my little ruby? We were made for one another."

Butterflies take wing in my stomach at his words, and I place my hand atop his on my hip by way of answer.

We continue to dance and sway together, and I don't know if it's the alcohol or his cologne or the atmosphere or just him, but I'm perfectly content and enjoying myself. This probably isn't a good idea, but fuck it. I'm just going to have fun.

When I finally get tired and need a break, I turn in Axe's arms and yell up at him that I need to go to the restroom.

"I'll come with you," he offers.

I stay him with a hand on his chest. His eyes flick down to where I'm voluntarily touching him, and when he raises his eyes back up to meet mine again, they're full of heat. "I'll be right back," I assure him, my own pulse thundering at the look in his eyes.

He hesitates and then finally nods and motions to me that he'll be at the bar.

I make my way through the throng of people, a stupid grin on my face. I go to the restroom and freshen up, fluffing my hair a bit in the mirror.

I reapply a bit of the lip balm to my dry lips before I exit the restroom.

As I'm making my way over to the bar where Axe is waiting for me, I suddenly feel hands on my waist. A man spins me around to face him, and I look up at him in surprise. "Hey, sweet thing." He's grinning down at me. "Where do you think you're going?"

He doesn't give me a chance to answer before he starts trying to drag me onto the dance floor. I pull against him, getting ready to tell him that I'm not interested, but before I can, an inhuman growl sounds from behind me, and then the man is suddenly ripped away.

I hear the cracking of bone as Axe's fist connects with the man's nose. A few people gasp and scream and move away from the commotion.
