My heart is thundering in my chest, and I will it to slow down.

He said he wouldn’t make me do anything sexual I didn’t want to to do, but now I’m beginning to think that promise won’t stop him from pushing the boundaries.

So it’ll be up to me to stand firm and stay strong.

Damn him.

I get angrier and angrier just thinking about it. What game is he playing?

Just as I start to pull away from him and force some distance between us, the limo slows to a stop, and Dane gets out, reaching his hand back in for me.

I don’t take it this time, stubbornly getting out without his assistance. There’s no more need to try not to offend him. Our deal is done, and me being polite and submissive isn’t part of our agreement.

Kind of like him kissing my shoulder and touching me isn’t.

I see the amusement in his eyes when I push past his hand and step out on my own, and that only pisses me off even more.

I don’t want to amuse him.

As if he can read my thoughts, his face breaks into a grin, and then he smiles at me.

A heartbreaking, devastatingly handsome smile that makes my heart flutter.

God, why does he have to be so darn attractive?

“This way, sunshine,” he takes my elbow and leads me into the most opulent building I’ve ever seen. Everything is a clean pallet of white and gold sprinkled with pops of turquoise. It’s elegant and screams of wealth.

He walks us over to an elevator that’s separate from the main ones sitting in the lobby, and the bellhop already has it open and waiting for him by the time we get there.

“Mr. Rushing,” he greets him respectfully, and Dane nods back at him before we’re closed into the elevator alone.

Just like at the restaurant, Dane crowds me, standing close to me and not releasing my elbow despite there being plenty of space in the empty elevator.

The man obviously doesn’t understand the concept of personal space

He doesn’t speak, and neither do I, though I feel him gazing down at me. I look resolutely ahead, refusing to look up at him.

Unsurprisingly, the elevator takes us all the way to the top floor, which must be the penthouse suite.

His hand moves back to the small of my back as he leads me to the door.

As soon as he opens the door, I gasp. I’m mesmerized by the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the ocean. I see the moonlight glistening on the waves, and it’s the most beautiful view of my beloved ocean I’ve ever seen.

I’m so mesmerized that I don’t see the slight step down into the space and trip like an idiot, my feet fumbling as I tumble forward.

Dane doesn’t let me fall, though. He’s in front of me in a flash, holding me flush against his chest with a strong arm around my waist.

I can feel every hard plane of his chest and abs pressed against me. I feel his heart thundering in tempo with mine, and I make the mistake of looking up at him.

His green eyes are boring down into mine, and he makes no move to release me. Instead, he murmurs something that sounds like, “Fucking beautiful little angel,” and then his head lowers until his lips brush against mine.

There’s just the lightest brush of his lips against mine before his hand comes up to tilt my head up to him, and then I feel his tongue gliding over my lips, tasting me.

The sensation makes my knees go weak, and then he sucks gently on my bottom lip before his tongue snakes into my mouth, gently flicking against mine.

I never imagined that this is what kissing was like. The thought of a guy’s tongue in my mouth honestly always kind of grossed me out, but Dane’s tongue in my mouth is the hottest thing I’ve ever experienced.

It’s not gross at all. In fact, it’s heavenly.
