She rubbed her full stomach, “Good, things are moving along well. I have about two more months to go before I see this little one’s face.”
“How does Mireya feel about being a big sister?”
Mireya, or Mimi as we all called her, was Keeva’s daughter. She was Keeva and Kerem’s rainbow baby. When Keeva was looking for a name, I suggested Mireya because it meant miracle. She and Kerem granted me the honor of naming their firstborn with the name I’d found.
“She is too busy wrapping her dad around her finger to care. She is a daddy’s girl all day long,” Keeva laughed.
“My god baby is gorgeous enough to wrap anyone around her finger,” Robin said.
“That’s very true,” I agreed. “I’ve been in the store trying to find me something and end up in the little girl section finding something for Mimi.”
“She has so many clothes between y’all and her grandmothers, I haven’t purchased her anything yet,” Keeva laughed.
“So, it’s no big deal, but Morris asked me to accompany him and his daughters to dinner.”
“On a date?” Keeva asked, sitting up in her chair.
“No, not a date. More like for backup. He’s still dating that Angel girl.”
“Is he? Cause I saw Angel out with Councilman Henry and uh…they were pretty chummy,” Keeva said.
“Yeah, he told me the relationship was strained, but they are still together. Did Councilman Henry and Angel see you when you saw them?” I asked.
“Yep, I spoke. He asked me howThe Carterwas running, you know, since it’s in his district. I told him great. Neither one acted like they were doing anything wrong, so I just figured that Angel and Moe weren’t together anymore. Morris may want to look into Angel and the Councilman cause if they ain’t sleeping together they shole about to,” Keeva said.
“Maybe Morris and Angel have an open relationship?” Robin said.
“He’s not the open relationship type. That would be messed up if she is out and about with a dude and they are still together, though.”
“Well, maybe they aren’t together anymore and y’all can stop playing like y’all don’t like each other,” Robin said.
“We are friends,” I responded.
“Friends that go on dates,” Robin amended.
“It’s not a date!” I countered.
“Yeah, okay. So you’re saying he couldn’t get it…again?” Keeva asked.
“Again?” Robin questioned, looking between Keeva and me.
“We hooked up once a while ago,” I admitted.
“And?” Robin said.
“It was everything, but then I found out he was still with Angel,” I explained.
“Allegedly,” Keeva added.
“He’s still with her now!”
“She saw something and didn’t bother to ask him about it. So now she’s in hell trying to play like she doesn’t want to be with him,” Keeva said.
“What are you afraid of?” Robin asked.
“I’m not afraid. I just don’t want to be that chick that pursues a guy that’s already with someone else. I hate sneaky, underhanded bitches, and I don’t want to be one.”
“I hear you,” Robin said.
