“Oh yeah, lots of fun.” Teeah and I make our way inside, and the place is blown up birthday crazy. “I feel so sorry for whoever has to clean this up,” I say to nobody in particular before stopping at the bar. “Can I have water?”
The bartender looks at me like there’s something wrong with me. “The only water we have is seltzer. Is that okay with you?”
Before I can answer, I hear Kris from the end of the bar. “Give her a High Note.”
“Did you forget I don’t drink?”
“It's hibiscus tea. Shut up and drink it.”
“Ooh, bossy. Can you be my daddy for the night?” Teeah purrs. I should mention she’s very much into girls.
Picking up his amber-colored drink, Kris approaches with a wide smile. “I’m sorry, I cannot go home with a jingle.” He drains the glass and places it on the bar between us, singing. Chi—Chi—Chi—Chia.” Before winking at me and walking away. Guess he talked to Pierce and heard we call Teeah Ta—ta Teeah because of her huge tatas.
After yet another brief interaction with Kris— why is he even here? Teeah pulls me to the floor for some much—needed fun. Everyone thinks I’m drinking, but I’m not, though I’m having just as much fun shaking my ass as all the drunk idiots.
I’ve got my arms up, swaying to the music when I’m lifted into the air. I squeal, knowing just who’s got me. “Took about long enough, Tate.”
“I’m sorry, bebe.”
“It’s okay. I mean, my birthday does only happen once a year.” I smile down at him but keep swaying to the music. This boy has lifted me so much that I’m used to him.
Tate finally brings me back to the floor, wrapping his arms around my waist before planting his face in the crook of my neck. “Fuck, bebe, I’ve missed your smell.” He leaves little love bites up my neck.
“We’re in a room full of people, Tate.” I’m starting to get uncomfortable. I know he’s been drinking because instead of letting me go, he pulls me closer.
