“You’re not an afterthought,” she agreed. He was the one man she wanted badly enough to ignore her own rules and even her instinct for self-preservation.
“You are my lover, Jenna. And until you tell me otherwise, you will be the only woman in my bed.”
“Same.” She wasn’t going to belabor the point, not least of which because the knowledge wasn’t somethingshewanted to dwell on.
“Good to know.”
“If we eat out, can we go someplace totally touristy, like a celebrity chef restaurant or something?” she asked as much because she hungry as she wanted to change the subject.
“You’re really intent on making this a full-on vacation, aren’t you?”
“Yes,” she responded without apology.
The only vacation time she’d taken in ten years was for family stuff. The only travel she’d done was for work. These two weeks were going to be neither.
No family stuff. No work. Jenna was going to play tourist to the hilt.
“Freshen up, and I’ll get us a table somewhere.”
“You will?” she teased, not sure why she always pushed that point.
Was it because she needed the reminder that he had staff to do stuff like that for him, and she did not? That they came from completely disparate worlds?
Despite her friendship with his queenly sister-in-law, Jenna herself was not royal, or rich, or even moderately famous. Her brother was more well-known by the media.
Both Jenna and Nataliya liked it that way.
“I will call my people.”
“Okay.” She gave him a cheeky grin and then headed off to find the bedroom and the en suite bathroom so she could do what he suggested.
Freshen up.
She’d like to think the time away from him might give her some perspective, but she knew that was a lost cause. She had not just had sex with the prince, but even more telling, Jenna had fallen asleep on the man. Twice.
Feeling secure like she never did, and after the past weeks, that was really strange. Like really, reallystrange.
He’d hidden things from her, forced her to back off on her own sense of integrity and hurt her. Yet she still trusted him on a deep, visceral level that allowed her to rest with him when sleep had been so hard to come by otherwise.
She’d like to believe she’d just been tired enough and the sex had relaxed her sufficiently to make it happen. But that wouldn’t account for the sense of well-being Jenna had both before falling asleep and upon waking.
Dimitri smiled at Jenna’s delighted response as the driver pulled their car into the spot in front of the building where one of her favorite celebrity chefs had a restaurant. Getting a table was usually at least a month-long wait, but he had strings to pull and no compunction about tugging them. Hard.
“I’d say I can’t believe you got us in here, but I can.”
“So doing so doesn’t impress you?” he asked as he helped her out of the car, subtly maneuvering his driver out of the way to do so.
“Did I say that?” Jenna gave him a wide-eyed smile. “I’mveryimpressed and really, really pleased you were thoughtful enough to pick this restaurant.”
Hehadpushed for this particular eatery when his social assistant had told him it would be easier to get a table at a different one. “The chef owed my brother a favor. I cashed it in.”
“Which brother?” Jenna asked suspiciously.
“Does it matter?”
“I’m still angry with Prince Konstantin.”
“I told you, he never really suspected you.”
