“I agree, it definitely would be.”

“You good with bouncing around between the casino and the bar?” Smoke asked, changing the subject.

“I’m going to have to make a choice soon. I’m still learning at the casino and there’s a couple of things I want to take care of there first, before I make a final decision.” I had to decide what to do about Jaz and she was on the run from another motorcycle club seemingly without her knowledge of the fact.

“You must be into her if you haven’t told the casino,” Smoke guessed.

“I am. That’s the problem isn’t it?”

Smoke chuckled at my dilemma. It was alright for him. He had his family and everything together. “Women. Can’t live without them.”

“Exactly,” I agreed. “I’m getting off the phone. I’m gonna get back to watching my movies,” I said moodily.

“Alright man. Hope to see you down at the club this week. We can hang out then,” Smoke said.

“We can. I have to work down there later in the week.” I remembered.

“Sweet. Enjoy the day off man.”

“Plan to. Later, Smoke.”

“Peace.”

I watched movies just like I wanted. Throughout the day, I periodically checked my phone to see if Jaz had called or texted me. A compulsion took over my fingers and made me look. Every time I did, I got nothing but a fistful of disappointment. No messages and no missed calls. I didn’t know what I expected, especially since I told her to stop cheating. I knew with me gone, she would be having a field day.

I was starting to question myself. If I wasn’t part of the Rebel Saints and the club wanting to buy out the place in the future, would I be against what she was doing? Wasn’t she just outplaying a rigged system? I found it hard to reconcile it all in my head.

A couple of days later, I was back at Red Stone and headed for the showdown with Jaz. We hadn’t seen one another since our little run-in, if I could call it that. Every day since, I’d thought of finishing what we started. On my day off, I’d called the Biloxi casino and I’d been put through to a few different people, I had to hold for over twenty minutes, and that didn’t work for me, so I ended up hanging up. I’d hoped Bones had better luck finding out through his channels. He had people in place, down the pipeline who were good at getting information.

I resumed my shifts at Red Stone, no closer to finding any evidence on Jaz.
