Bones sat on his bike looking hesitant. “It’s hotter than sin out here. We don’t want to stay too long and cook. I have a few streets that got hit from the last time too. We can check them out as well. Let’s float around them and see what people know. Somebody is going to tell us something.”

“I just want to catch her in action,” I retorted angrily. “Honestly, she should be in rehab, not selling.” A flashback of tangerine flames of fire jumped through my mind. I shook it off.

“You got that right.” Bones nodded. “Might be a good plan to talk to casino management and see if they’ve heard anything. Work smarter, not harder. I have to start talking to them anyway if we want to get a foot in the door.”

I swallowed my pride and the seething desire for revenge. As much as I wanted to get even and bust Samantha, I wasn’t willing to search all day in the hot-ass Mississippi sun.

Coyote marched back out from the underground lot with his hands raised in defeat. “Nothing. It’s going to be hard to see anything right now. Maybe we should come back at night and do a run-through.”

“That’s a good idea.” I circled my hand above my head. “We’re going to do a quick sweep of the area as well.”

“Alright, let’s roll.” Coyote wiped his brow.

I scowled, and we rode out without the success I was looking for.
