“Get off me now! This is assault. I’m going to call the cops on all of you,” she called out. “I’m not doing anything wrong. You can’t do anything. I have a right to be here like everybody else!”

“Please do call the cops. I’m sure they’ll be happy to know what you’ve been doing,” I added sarcastically as I felt around her pockets. The bulk of them were full of lumps that felt like pills.

“Shuddup! Shuddup!” She tucked her hip away from me so I couldn’t touch her again.

The foreboding figures of Bones and Coyote entered into the shadow of the night as their bikes lined up right in front of her.

Bones frowned. “Samantha. This is a real shame we have to find you here again. On the same day too. You are hard up, aren’t you?”

I still had hold of her shirt, but she’d calmed down now, facing Bones and Coyote while her leg jittered on the spot. Her eyes were pursuing an exit strategy and we all knew it.

Bones spoke again, “You have nowhere to run, Samantha. Stop coming on our turf. This is the last and final warning.”

“Not my fault, it’s not.” Her hysteria was growing and her leg kept jittering.

“Why isn’t it your fault? You tried to kill two of our friends. You’re on our turf and you're working for a snake.” Coyote made the offenses as plain as the light from the bikes shining on Samantha.

“I’m doing what I gotta do. His name is Snake, and he’s looked out for me. I have to go now,” Samantha pleaded.

Footsteps sounded behind me and I knew extra security personnel were on deck.

Coyote shook his head in disgust as he saw them arriving.

Car doors slammed as visitors left the casino for the night. It was bad for business that Samantha was dealing on site, especially since we were trying to buy Red Stone.

“You heard what he said,” Damien had caught up to us and spoke with authority. “If you don’t get off casino premises now, we will call the police. We’re here to escort you off the premises, Samantha Adler.”

Coyote and Bones retreated to their bikes, mounting and starting up their engines since the Red Stone security team was there.

“How do you know my name?” she asked in a flustered tone, her legs visibly shaking. She put up her shaky palms in defense. “I’m leaving myself. You don’t have to escort me. I don’t want you touching me. Freaks.”

“We won’t touch you, unless you give us reason to. Let’s go, Miss Adler.”

Bones and Coyote smiled at the security team.

They nodded back in recognition. All three of us walked forward with Samantha, flanking her on either side as she moved to her beat up car and got in. I watched her janky movements concerned that she might try to run us over. She bit her lip and cranked the engine. She reversed back and made a left turn out of the parking lot.

“Good riddance. We got her plate number. She is officially banned from Red Stone. Anybody see her, you ring the cops on sight,” I added.

“Done,” Damien said. “I know you had it handled, but the more we intimidate her, the better the chances of her staying away. I’m back on the floor. See you back in there.”

“Yep. I appreciate it.”

Bones and Coyote were silent as they put on their helmets.

I knew we would speak later, so I wasn’t worried.

They blared their bike horns as they raced off.

I stood for a minute, letting the moment sink in. I turned back to the other guys as we moved through the double doors, back to the flash and cash of the casino.

Samantha and the mystery woman. Both of them were potential threats in different ways.

Women. I rolled my eyes.
