She waved back and made her way over to us.
“Hey, Naomi, how are you? Hey, Harper.” I smiled warmly at them both.
“Hi, Numbers, how are things?” Harper asked politely.
I was leaning against the bar and taking in the scene. So far it was just club members and the girls in Wheelz. Not everybody, but most. Out of the corner of my eye, I spotted Mia enter.
She was hard to miss. She looked phenomenal in blue jeans and an off-the-shoulder white halter top. I almost dropped my drink. She had this aura around her that made her entirely mesmerizing. She wore wedges that added height, and her hair swung as she walked. Her lips were clear and glossy. She smiled at Bones and Bear as she glided through the bar.
It felt like she was on a road and I was her only destination. All I could see was her. I felt my heart speed up as I struggled to maintain my composure in front of the girls and Hawk. I straightened up on the bar stool and got up to greet her.
She seemed confident as she walked towards us.
“You made it,” I said happily.
“Of course. I thought it might be fun to come down and kick your butt in darts,” she teased as I kissed her on the cheek.
The girls laughed at this.
Mia recognized Naomi and smiled at her.
“Them's fighting words,” I retorted. “I’m going to have to put you to the test soon and see what you got,” I teased her right back. I didn’t know if it was just me, but her eyes seemed even greener and more sparkly than normal. Maybe it was the white top she was wearing in contrast.
“I don’t know, I think Mia probably can beat you. She’s pretty sharp,” Naomi backed her up.
“Ohh, I know, trust me,” I added, smiling at Mia appreciatively. It was as if we had a silent code between us even though we were talking in a group. “Mia, do you want a drink? What can I get for you?”
“A beer on tap. I’m happy with that.”
I nodded in response as Hawk introduced himself to her. I turned back to the bar and ordered a drink from Ink. He answered before I had a chance to ask.
“A drink for your lady friend, right? What would she like?” Ink’s tattoos were on full display and he looked like he’d been working out a little more. His biceps were bigger in circumference.
I wondered if I could get some tips from him. My arms looked puny in comparison even though I was a pretty lean guy. “Actually, let me see if she wants to try one of your cocktails. She might like it.” I turned around to meet her warm green eyes. “Hey Mia, do you want to try one of Ink’s famous cocktails?”
Her eyes lit up like Christmas lights. “Ooo, a cocktail. Okay, I’ll give it a try,” she said enthusiastically as she moved in beside me.
I could get used to making her happy.
“What is it? You’re looking at me funny,” she said.
“Sorry, I couldn’t help but stare, you look so beautiful tonight.”
“Thank you, that’s sweet of you.” She smiled as Ink made her drink.
I watched as Ink put on a show as he sometimes liked to do. He shook the silver canister and poured the colored liquid into a glass for Mia.
“That looks amazing. I can’t wait to drink it,” she praised.
“There you go, Mia. Try that out and see what you think?” Ink stated.
She took her straw and dipped it in the liquid as Ink looked on for her reaction. As the flavor hit her mouth, she opened her eyes wide in shock. “Tastes sooo good. Thank you.”
“Great, glad you like it. First one is on the house.” He gave her a nod.
“Thank you!” She smiled.
We made our way over to the group.
